I smoked weed for the first time in about 5 years on saturday. I hit the blunt about 4 or 5 times. I have an interview on friday, and am almost certain I'll have to take a drug test(urine). I've been doing research on how long THC stays in your system, but all I can find is that it depends on frequency of smoking, height, weight, metabolism, water consumption, and potency of the weed. It could be present anywhere from 2 days to 10 months in an infrequent smoker. What are your opinions? Think I'll pass the drug test? Anyone ever been in a similar situation?

Dont know where to post this question

What interview asks for a drug test?
-
good question
-
Well perhaps I'm being cocky, but I all but know I'll get the job......and before they hire me offically, I'll have to take a drug test.
-
hmm... It really depends on what you said... Was it really good weed? If I was in your situation, here is what I would do. Drink water like its going out of style up until the interview day and if I was still a bit worried, I would go to the local head shop and buy a 'system cleaner or dilute'.. But, some tests do pick up the dilute, so you might have to retest in a few weeks, but by then (providing you dont smoke anymore) you should be clean. Good luck!
-
Taking a drug test at an interview is basicly a standard practice these days. They believe most drug users cant be productive in the work place or will try to rip them off. Which, in most cases, thats the truth.
-
I'm really not sure if it was good weed or not. I haven't smoked in a long time, and I was drunk when I smoked on saturday. Sad, I know. It was my best friends birthday, and things got a little out of control. I'll try drinking water, and maybe picking up some kind of dilute. Retesting wont be a problem, because I wont be smoking anymore. What exactly do you mean by 'head shop'? Is it like a GNC or something?
-
It's true that drug tests have become a requirement for many jobs, especially in big companies, and companies that do business with the government. Amazingly, I got a job with a military contractor, then got a Secret security clearance, and I never had to pee in a bottle. But that was the old days...when we cared about Russian submarines. In reply to:Which, in most cases, thats the truth. Can you back this up?I'd rather work with a casual marijuana user who only smokes at home than someone who's had too much to drink, too many tranquilizers, too much Ritalin, or not enough sleep.
-
A head shop is a place to buy the items for 'tobacco' use. Pipes, bongs, rolling papers etc... But, I've only seen the dilute at one of the head shops around here, so you might be better off looking into a GNC or something. See what they have to fix your little problem. I hope all works out!

I've never been sujected to drug testing. If I rememebr correctly, THC has a half life of about 8 days.
-
Im talking about the hard drug users. I'm a frequent marijuana user, and when I work for people, I bust my ass and do the most honest job I can. I dont steal. Im not looking to rip anyone off or anything, I just want to make some honest money. If I wanted to make a lot of money without doing anything, I would sell drugs.. But, I want honest money. But, this is just me.

All the stuff I found on the net is kind of confusing. Like THC is present for up to 2 weeks, but THC 9 carbon (the result of your body metabolizing THC) can be present a lot longer. I guess I'll get another glass of water now....Thanx Fabmx, I need all the luck I can get, lol
-
[Fabmx: yes, I agree. But the point is that there are things that that are not tested for that screw up job performance worse that heroin, but are legal.]Fooling the Bladder Cops says: In reply to:Increasing metabolism is probably the most effective way to decrease the time period that drugs can be detected in your system. Physical activity can increase your metabolic rate as much as two thousand percent! Nothing beats proper training taken to an extreme. A high calorie diet is the next best way to increase metabolism. Consuming mass quantities of high calorie food will increase metabolic rate by up to 10 percent. On the contrary, a mal-nutritious (light) diet could lower your metabolism by 10 percent. Speed (the drug) will also increase metabolism. Unfortunately, labs usually test for speed, and could get you into trouble. So exercise with intensity, and eat big. Also see Fooling the Bladder Cops (is this another version of the same article?), and Why "Drug" Testing Is Really Just Marijuana Testing – Which Is Counterproductive for a political perspective.

ok, so I just read the second article, and now I have more questions. The article mentions getting your own home test. Where can I get one at, I mean I cant just go to the local drug store and buy one. Is it like a pregnancy test, just pee on a stick and wait for the color change? If I am willing to pay, can I get one at the clinic? Suppose I test positive, will there be any legal consequences?
-
I've heard of home tests where you clip off a hair sample, put it in a supplied bottle, and mail it to the testing company. Not sure about urine tests. The testing company will not bust you...but who knows what kind of things are being snooped these days?As for your prospective employer's test...One solution is to bring a (clean) friend's urine with you and put that in the bottle. But if they get suspicious and make you take the test while watching you produce the sample, you're in trouble.Sometimes a hair sample is taken. This is a lot harder to fool if the sample taker snips some hair from an arbitrary spot on your head. What sucks is that THC is not water soluble, and hangs around in the body for a long time._____________________I have a friend who's an officer in the Navy's submarine program. That's some serious stuff. One of his men tested positive for opiates after having eaten a bagel with poppy seeds. The guy almost got kicked out of the military, but my friend put his own ass on the line and stood up for the guy. The military backed off. How ridiculous is that? Why do people tolerate this kind of invasion of privacy????
-
A friend of mine tried to urine swap. He failed because the urine wasnt around normal body temperature when he supplied it. Well thanks alot guys for all your help, I hope I pass!
-
I don't think it is an invasion of privacy to make sure we don't have a military full of opium addicts.

In reply to:

Or bagel eaters.
Once again libertarianism butts heads with authoritarianism.
Not everyone who tests positive on drug tests is an opium addict. And not everyone who is an opium addict is dysfunctional, at least as far as being able to work productively is concerned.
Now, I'm not saying that the Navy shouldn't be very concerned about the mindset and actions of the folks who man their subs, but it would be good if they could come up with a test that's less susceptible to false positives.
My bigger issue, though, is what private industry does. It's really none of their business whether you smoke joints or commit sodomy in your home. Their business is how you do your job.
And why don't they test for legal substances that can screw you up? Also, why aren't performance tests more common? I don't want to drive on the highway with a trucker who hasn't slept for two days, especially if he's not on speed.

In reply to: My bigger issue, though, is what private industry does. It's really none of their business whether you smoke joints or commit sodomy in your home. Their business is how you do your job. EXACTLY!!! I agree 100%

Really?! I dont think I could ever stomach that!
