I am 17 and about 4 months ago I found out that my foreskin was actually supposed to be able to retract. Since then I have been able to retract it easily without any problems when flaccid(not erect). When my penis is erect the skin does not retract on its own, I have to do it manually. When I pull it back the foreskin feels tight, but I can still retract it behind my head. After it goes over the head, the foreskin "bunches up" behind the head. I have tried to retract the foreskin some more, but it only retracts very, very slightly. Here is my question: *When my penis is erect, should the foreskin be able to retract further down my shaft and not "bunch up" behind my head? Some answers I have come up with on my own is that my foreskin is just naturally tight and it is not able to go back any further. The other answer is that my foreskin has not been streched enough to accomadate for the girth of my penis. I am leaning more towards this answer because I have noticed that, when erect, my penis is longer with the foreskin retracted behind my head than when the foreskin is covering the head (about a of an inch).**Another thing, related to the above, I have noticed is that my erect penis, with or without the foreskin retracted, seems to throb slightly. This throbbing matches my heartbeat and I think this might mean that my heart is still trying to get blood to my penis. Now correct me if I'm wrong, but the more blood your heart pumps into your penis the larger it should get. With all this said I think that my foreskin needs to be streched and as a result of my foreskin being looser, my penis should get larger. But I'm still very unsure and want to hear from anyone that thinks they know what might be going on with me.

Forskin Question
-
Your penis is as big as it's going to get with or with out retracting or stretching. I really don't see how your erection can be "longer" when you retract. It doesn't make sense. You can stretch the forskin some more so that it is a bit looser and more comfortable, but it's not going to do anything regarding your overall size.
-
My main concern is not the size of my penis, but whether or not my foreskin should be able to go further down my shaft and not "bunch up" behind my head. And about the getting "longer" thing, I know it might not make sense but the fact is that it does get a little bigger(maybe a quarter inch or so). I think it might have to do with my tight foreskin restricting blood flow. I kind of noticed that my head(when erect) seems to be a little bit unperportional to the rest of my penis(its bigger). I'm almost 100% sure its because of my tight foreskin is squeezing my shaft just before the head. This seems like a logical explanation.
-
I have the exact same problem. My foreskin sort of bunches up behind my head. I was wondering if this was normal and if I had to be careful when having sex.
-
All normal
-
With a few stretching exercises you can make it so that the foreskin rolls down completely down the shaft. Naturally it with bunch up behind the head, but most men can keep on rolling it until it smooths out and looks almost like a circumcised penis.
-
My erection looks like an erect circumcised penis. About the only difference is that you see skin instead of scar right behind the head.
-
But that white string keeps me from pulling more (I also have it all bunched behind my head)... EDIT: Ow wait, never mind, I was searching around the site, and thanks to sdp's sticky'd thread about the Male Anatomy I found this thread to stretch the foreskin. I hope that it will work for me.
-
I wish I could make that sticky thread in bold bright colors. Most people seem to skip over it even though it says PLEASE READ FIRST and it's at the top.
-
I understand you frustration sdp, but that sticky really didn't help me at all.The foreskin is bunching up behind the head and if i go to pull it back further the frenelum gets really tight and starts bending the head of my penis forward. Now if a girl was to give me a hand-job I am almost 100% sure she would grab the top of my foreskin and pull it back so far as to snap my frenelum.I'm just not sure what to do about my issue.
-
OK.. Bunching up behind the head is quite normal. The frenulum is not going to snap. Your GF needs to be gentle and that means that there is no need for her to yank the skin all the way down. If you read the threads you would see that stretching the frenulum is part of the process. You obviously have no problem retracting, so get to work on stretching out the frenulum a bit more.

Hi, Chuloloco ... Just a few additional comments, here, in an attempt to reassure you.
Compared to some other guys, who can't even see their glans save through a tiny hole, your condition is almost normal. "Stretching" both your foreskin and the frenum will help solve any problem. This process will take conscious effort and a lot of patience to make up for the exercise they didn't receive, during your adolescence. The good news is that the process can be speeded up. Faithful attention to exercises on a regular basis is the secret. Again, photographs at this site illustrate two good methods of stretching: the first for the foreskin, and the second for the frenum. http://www.foreskin.org/46-33-03.jpg and http://www.foreskin.org/46-33-04.jpg
Pull gently but firmly forward. Hold the stretch for up to five minutes, to the point of pain but not beyond. Repeat each exercise two or three times each day, minimum.
As for your worry about snapping the frenum during sexual activity, the possibility is remote, but in certain instances it can happen. It's one reason why you should be scrupulous about exercising the frenum. Like any "spring", use will tend to free movement and extend range. Treat it gingerly for the time being, as it has experienced little or no activity during your first 17 years. Remember that intercourse should be slow, gentle, and loving. The frantic movements which you may one day see on most porn videos are neither normal or desirable.
In reference to your question about blood flow, erections are determined by brain stimulus, and when that occurs, the problem (when a retracted foreskin grasps the shaft tightly) is not one of getting enough blood in the glans, but one of having the blood which engorges the glans becoming trapped there. Stretching the foreskin to permit free movement will solve all of these problems, and if, as a result, your penis grows or diminishes in size by 1/4 inch, so be it. An erect length of 5 or 6 inches is perfectly normal and entirely sufficient, and no doubt your penis falls within that range.
The relative size of the glans penis in respect to the shaft diameter varies widely from individual to individual, and if the diameter of your glans exceeds that of the shaft, well, that's part of your individual body type. Whatever the difference, the proportions of your penis seems to be well within normal range.
Regarding the query about your perception that the foreskin should be capable of further retraction behind the corona and along the penile shaft, well, conditions seem to vary with each person and the relative length of the individual foreskin. The only "ideal" seems to be one of sufficient length to permit glans coverage during erection, to help reduce loss of vaginal moisture during sexual intercourse. Aside from that, foreskin lengths vary greatly, as may be observed here: http://www.norm-phoenix.org/ Click on Restore Links to the left, then scroll down and click "Foreskin Coverage Index".

Hey thanks for the info.! When I stretch the foreskin, like in the photos, do I just grab the part I want to stretch when my penis is flaccid. I guess a better way to phrase my question is: do I just pull down my pants and grab, for example, the frenulum directly under me penis and pull foward? And another thing, does it matter that my foreskin doesn't open up like that shown in the photos? When I pull my foreskin foward you can't see my glans through the opening.
-
Hi, Chuloloco: When the intent is to increase the size of the foreskin opening, pull gently but firmly out, away from your body, and stretch the opening at right angles to the lengthwise direction of your penis. Over time, work toward getting your fingers inside, so that you can increasingly pull on the skin, as though you were opening a sack. This will help maximize your efforts and increase the efficiency of the "stretch".When the attempt is to lengthen the frenum, grasp the foreskin below the meatus (the piss hole) and pull gently but firmly straight out, away from your body. Inspect this photo, to get an idea of where the frenum is located within the unretracted foreskin: http://www.foreskin.org/46-33-21.jpg The frenum is the rather thin, string-like length of skin attached to the inside of the foreskin. When you begin this exercise, it's not necessary to see the frenum. That will come in time. Remember that the frenum attaches to your penis within the narrow slot which divides the glans penis below the meatus and it continues around the opening of the foreskin, much in the manner of a hangman's noose.I'm a bit confused by your last question, however. If your foreskin is capable of retraction while your penis is flaccid, why can't you see the glans when you stretch the opening, as in the photos? Is it because your foreskin is significantly longer that the given example? Remember that the photograph does not necessarily portray an ideal circumstance ... the intact penis and foreskin pictured is merely one of several billion examples which could have been shown. Your particular circumstance is entirely different from every other, and peculiar to you, alone. At any rate, the length of your foreskin shouldn't make much difference, except that if your foreskin is on the long-side, you may need to bunch up the skin as you stretch. Which photograph of foreskin lengths of the ten examples referred to in my previous message most resembles your penis and foreskin?Korydon

I think I just have a long foreskin. I'm guessing your foreskin is pretty normal and if so I have a couple questions. When flaccid and erect, does your foreskin easily and comfortably glide over the glans? Do you feel any kind of tightness at all? When you bring your foreskin back over the glans does it sort of overlap? Meaning does the outside skin, the skin that is always exposed when your foreskin is in its normal state on top of the glans, folds inward and touches the glans? On a slightly different topic, when my penis is semi-erect and I have already retracted the skin, if I continue to retract it down my shaft there's a "ring" and both sides of the ring are fatter than the ring itself. Will I be able to get rid of this ring. Sorry if this sounds confusing but I don't really know how to explain it.
-
Chuloloco: The "ring" to which you refer is undoubtedly part of Taylor's "ridged-bands", which lie just within the opening of the foreskin. Go to http://research.cirp.org/pix1.html and scroll down to figures 3 and 4 to observe one example. Continue to figure 5 for a close up view of the frenum, exposed by retraction, and of the ridged bands adjacent to the frenum, as it splits to encircle the penis. Figure 6 is a magnified view of the ridged bands, which graphically demonstrates their specialized form, the function of which is distinct from that of ordinary skin or of the mucosal tissue of the inner foreskin. The ring of the ridged bands perform a specialized function during sexual intercourse (as well as during masturbation), which means that their presence is VERY desirable. Obviously, the one procedure which always gets rid of the ridged bands is circumcision. The unfortunate removal of tissue, including the ridged bands, necessary to a normal sexual experience, explains why the procedure of circumcision is properly termed 'genital mutilation'.Another series of pictures which help illustrate penile anatomy are found here: http://www.infocirc.org/townsend/anatomy2.htm Scroll down to the bottom of the page to "How does the foreskin work". Click on the animated series of pictures to see a demonstration of one example of the gliding action of the foreskin which should occur during sexual intercourse.I have explained elsewhere on this site something of my own experience with the foreskin, but I'll briefly summarize for your benefit. I went through adolescence at a time before the internet, when open discussions such as "Afraid to Ask" were non-existent, and when information about the anatomy and function of the penis were generally unknown, even to doctors. Unfortunately, my foreskin was also completely unretractable, the opening having measured about 1/2 cm in diameter (less than 1/4 inch). The only information available to me was that gleaned from the many doctors whom I consulted. They all, to a man, recommended circumcision, only, as a solution to my "problem". After several years, during which I searched unsuccessfully for an alternative procedure, I finally, reluctantly, acquiesced to their advice. The results were disastrous in every way, especially with regard to an almost immediate loss of sensation. Since that time, however, I have successfully restored my foreskin (See: http://www.norm-phoenix.org/)Today I give much of my spare time to counseling fellows, such as you, who may have questions about a tight, unretractable foreskin. I attempt to give them information which will permit them to become normally retractable, through simple "stretching" exercises, thus eliminating the perceived need to mutilate the penis. As I have discovered to my everlasting regret, circumcision only makes matters worse. Therefore, your question about "tightness" during retraction is not quite applicable to my experience. At a casual glance, a restored foreskin may "look" fairly normal, but, as it has been forever deprived of the frenal band, it won't cling, naturally, to the glans penis as it slips back (as illustrated in the animation sequence previously mentioned). I don't know, but I suspect that you have been comparing the "look" of your penis during retraction with the appearance of a fellow who has had his foreskin sliced from his penis. Understand, fully, that your circumstance is normal, aside from minimal tightness. Appreciate your good fortune. As for your question about the foreskin folding over and touching the glans ... well, in my present circumstance, yes, the outer skin does fold over and touch the glans whenit moves forward. It depends partially on temperature, however. In cool weather my restored foreskin moves forward of the glans, forming a fairly tight "spout", which does not touch the glans. It is as though the glans retracts inward for protection.Understand that I am still "stretching", as the goal of most men who restore their foreskin is to achieve coverage during erection, so that the advantage gained through restoration is maximized. That extra coverage can take an inordinate amount of time to achieve, however. In your case you should exult. Whatever your perception, your foreskin seems to be wonderfully normal in form and function. Korydon

Thanks for all your help. I'm glad that their is someone who is dedicated to giving helpful information to those who have no idea what to do. I think I have developed my own stretching technique and would like to know what you think of it. When I am in the shower I retract my foreskin and let the water run down my penis for awhile to clean it. Then, I grab my glans with my thumb and index or middle finger. Next, I roll the foreskin over my glans and two fingers. Then, I seperate my two fingers and hold them in a fixed position, which stretches the skin. This has seemed to work quite well.Another question I have for you is the fullness of my erection. It doesn't feel like my penis has come out all the way. I mean its hard and everything, but it doesn't feel quite right. Also, the range of motion of my erect penis isn't that far. Is it supposed to be able to rotate with fairly easily? In my case, I can't rotate that far to the right and pushed too far it hurts a bit. Also, the girth of my shaft at the base of my penis is smaller than that of the girth at the middle and end of my penis. The difference is fairly noticable, but only if you were told to look for it. Is this normal?
-
Hi, Chuloloco:If your stretching method works, more power to you. It's fortunate that you can get two fingers inside ... which means that it shouldn't take too long for you to achieve normal retraction. I'd only recommend holding the stretch for several minutes, and repeating the process several times a day.An erect penis shouldn't be pushed or rotated too far from its natural position. Merely missing vaginal entry during sexual intercourse and striking the pubic bone of one's partner can bend the penis enough so that blood vessels break, flooding the penis with blood. This can cause permanent damage unless the penis so stricken gets immediate medical help. Remember, if something hurts, you are doing something wrong. Finally, variations in the diameter of your penis over its length are normal for you and you alone, just as every other aspect of your body is unique. We might all be amazed at the striking differences between penes, should a hundred men line up to display their unique qualities. Rest assured, from this distance you seem quite normal. KorydonN.B.: By the way, I understand "loco", but what means "chulo"?
-
Thanks for your input."Chulo" is a Spanish term of endearment. It could mean "honey", "sweatheart", "handsome", or "hottie". In my case, my mom gave me that nickname so it would "sweatheart".

I seriously wonder why your parents had an intact child and did not teach you correct hygene and principales of yourself. Besides from my parents, I also learned this in health class in 5th grade, and again in 7th grade.
