Pill to stop period?
-
No. Once it started, it's a bit too late to stop it. However, if you skip the placebo pills in the package and start a new one, then you will have no period at all.

okay, i told her this, and she said she wanted to know if for next time, (she goes on/off the pill all the time :S) if she wasnt on her period, but was expecting it within the next few days, could she take her pills for like, 4 days or so, to delay it, but only for a few days? say sits tuesday, she usually would get it on a wednesday, if she took them from tuesday until say, saturday, then just stopped, would her period begin sunday? would that work? if yes, how long do you think she would have to take them before she was expecting it? this must be really confusing, but honestly she has a good reason behind her questions, and im the one with the internet lol.thanks, anyone

I really don't have any idea but it all sounds like a really bad idea. Tell her she should either be on the pills or not.

There's some new form of oral birth control that reduces the number of period to four per year, I think. Not sure where it's on the market, if anywhere. If the birth control pill could be used safely to stop periods, I'll bet most fertile woman would use them that way. I doubt that it would be safe, though.

Seasonale, and it's available all over

Well before Seasonale came on the market women have been using oral contraceptive pills to change their period dates, so (for example) they are not on their period when they have a week's holiday with the boyfriend, or on their wedding night; and some women have stopped their period for years by skipping the sugar pills. It's not recommended by doctors, but no-one so far has been able to point to any bad effects.

For short term doctors don't really seem to mind. A woman doesn't have to have her period. If you're on the shot you don't get your period. I've been off birth control for a while, I was on it to regulate my period. Last year I only had my period twice. I don't get mine because of an imbalance of hormones. I've been to several doctors and I can either go back on the pill or not. Nothing bad is going to happen to me if I don't have a regular period. Not having a period is not life threatening.

I know someone who was put on birth control pills to regulate her period. Unfortunately for her, the pill caused her blood pressure to go dangerously high.Keep in mind that, for whatever purpose you use it, the pill can have side effects, and you need to be monitored by your doctor when using it.
