does anyone know how reliable this is?

Withdrawal method

Very unreliable. "Percentage of Women Experiencing an Accidental Pregnancy with the Birth Control First Year of Use Method (typical use): Withdrawal -- 19%" (from the University of Michigan Health System: Birth Control Methods).Based on what you said in your other thread, you need to get a pregnancy test.

I am a male, and we used the withdrawal method for some time, after we had finished having our children. We found it fairly reliable, but let me say that as a male, it is extremely frustrating having to pull out at the climax. It totally ruins the whole experience. Although I was able to cum, it can be a bit disappointing, and leaves a bit of a mess to clean up.In June 2003, I had a vascectomy, and that has got to have been the best decision I have had to make. Although it is a bit of a discomfort for a few days, it is a very safe form of contraception. I was given a local for the small op, in the sack, one side done, then the other, with a second local, and that was the worst bit of the whole procedure, as it stung like hell. Took about 45 minutes all up.My shaft and sack turned a bright shade of purple for a few days, and we had to continue using other forms of contraception for while afterwards. I had to ejaculate about 16 times, and then submit a sample to pathology. This still came up positive, so had to wait for a few more times. The second sample came back clear, and we evntually celebrated when we had a weekend away for my wife's birthday, and her parents were on the other side of the wall! This was in a huge barn, with bedrooms all round the perimeter, and you could hear a pin drop in the middle of the night.

In reply to:We found it fairly reliableIf your partner was trying not to get pregnant, consider yourself lucky. But I don't think it's responsible to imply that the withdarwal method is a realiable form of birth control.

My parents used the withdrawal method. I am the youngest of FIVE. They were not married when my sister was conceived, so they were using withdrawal from day one.
BAAAAD plan if you don't want to have a baby.

It is not a reliable method. I got pregnant from following that method 5 years ago.
