My son has ADHD. He was diagnosed with it in mid 1999. He is now 11, and is on 4 x Ritalin tablets per day. Let me say that these really help, but there are still times when we have problems with him.
We live in Canberra, Australia. We see a specialist in Sydney twice a year. Trouble is, our medical insurance system does not recognise the "procedure" this doctor undertakes. His consultation is partially covered, but we only receive a $50 refund out of costs of $200.
This doctor is highly recommended, and the procedures do help with his ADHD.
Despite lobbying the health department, the AMA (Australian Medical Association) and other interested parties, no one wants to tackle the medical insurance issues.
