Hey,here's a question. Since some religeons use circumcision as a whole manhood rite and some in countries (USA for example) they often snip babies at birth, do the parents generally need to tell the doctors to not perform a circumcision? What happens if the baby is accidentally clipped?

Religeous Circumcision Question

Before it was almost automatic. Now they ask. If circumcision was not given consent by the parents, someone can get into a lot of trouble.
-
Is it still that common then? Or has the choice moved people to not cut?

I think parents must sign a form. Circumcision is still very common according to most surveys. The rate has however, been reducing slightly. This is due to a variety factors. To a small extent, many have realized that circumcision is not necessary. Also, many immigrants come from non-circumcising cultures. For example, in California, the rate is very low because of the high hispanic population. But in the South, I think the rate is still quite high. Also, some insurance policies and state medicaid etc. no longer cover the procedure. Overall I think the rate is around 65% in the U.S.

It was still almost automatic in Canada in the 80's. Back when I was born, my parents had to specifically ask that I not be circumsised. Now, you have to ask and sign for your child to be done in hospital. Most doctors, including our OB recommend against it.

I was born in Canada in '80 but they didn't get me Man, this topic has nothing to do with religeon anymore, does it...?

It never was about religeon. Your question was about doctors automatically performing circumcisions upon birth. You never asked a religeous based question.
