Hi, I'm new to the forums and I was just wondering if anyone has experienced this and/or has a solution. For about a year now Sex has been extremely painful. To the point where I don't even care to engage in it anymore. I've had numerous tests for every possible STD and they've all come back fine. I also don't have a yeast infection as I've been tested for that as well. I went to a specialist and they told me that "I'm fine" and that I should try olive oil, yogurt and try abstaining from sex. Personally I'm extremely frustrated with this answer. I have been with the same partner for 2 years now and I hadn't experienced this sort of pain before or during the first year of our relationship. I don't understand how "nothing could be wrong" when I'm in horrible burning/pain whenever I engage in sexual activity. I was wondering if anyone has experienced this before and/or had any solutions. I've been trying everything with no success. It's really depressing...Thanks in advance.

Has anyone mentioned the possibility of vaginismus? Here's a little test you can take.Dyspareunia?More general info on painful intercourse from David Ashley Hill, M.D.

That was very helpful to me! And someone else posted the question.

It's neither of those possibilities. And even though that one page on painful intercourse is informative none of those things relate to me. The pain I feel is constant discomfort like a yeast infection but without the infection. All the doctors I've gone to tell me that there is nothing wrong. Which doesn't make sense because this has never been a problem before. Thank you, though.

"Constant." I thought about that, but you didn't mention it in your original post. Has anyone considered the possibility of vulvodynia? National Vulvodynia Foundation (They refer to a study done by Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston...I can tell you that it's one of the finest teaching hospitals in the U.S.) Mayo Clinic info A support Web site Vulvodynia and Vulvar Vestibulitis (Article by Julius F. Metts, M.D.)

No they haven't but the symptoms of "vulvodyna" hit close to home. I have an appointment with the specialist again in a couple weeks so I'm going to bring that up with them. But if they didn't realize it before I don't think that they are so "special" after all. Thanks for this information! It's starting to rule my life =/

Are you near a major medical center? You should start there. Are you anywhere near Boston?
-
Yeah, I am near a major medical clinic, but I'm not in Boston. However, it is one of the best "women's clinics" in Canada.

OK...good luck...let us know how it turns out.
