Hey, My girlfriend (16 years old) got the Implanon Inplant on March 1st after just comimg off the pill. It is now the end of the second week she's been on her period, after having it every 2 weeks (exactly) after going on Implanon. Is this usual behaviour .. or should I get worried now!? Given my age being the same as hers! Many Thanks. Edit: From other articles I have read I believe that after a misscarriage there is bleeding that could last from 1 to two weeks, but this is the end of the second week. Also, she has experienced some slight cramp, which is also an effect from misscarriage. Previously she showed no signs of pregnancy. It could be psychological cramps because she has read the article saying you could get cramps...if you know what I mean, you read something, you have one symptom, and you think you have the whole disease. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again!Edit #2: From re-reading the article the title appears a little ambiguous. There was already a thread in this forum saying "two week period", so I put "another", however this is the first time my girlfriend has had a period lasting two weeks!

Another 2 Week Period - Implanon Implant

prolonged bleeding is not that uncommon in women changing birth control etc, and cramps are definitely a normal period thing, and could be caused by the effects of the implant, or, coming off the pill, or the prolonged bleeding. I would however suggest going to see a doctor is the bleeding lasts longer, tho if the blood looks old (browish etc) then it could be that during the time on the pill she (grossness warning) never fully emptied! (sorry didnt' know how else to put it!) when i was on the pill, i would have very little bleeding for only a couple of days, but when i came off the pill it was very different. Bottom line, if your both worried, and it carries on go see a doctor to be sure - hope all goes well.
