I've kinda been torn between which (fat or carbs) I should worry about the most. I try to eat a lot of low fat or non fat products, but then everyone else is worrying about carbs. Which do you think will make weight loss more affective?
-
Fat vs. Carbs
-
Can't you not cut down on both? Fats have more calories in them than the equivlent amount of carbs do.
-
Personally, I'd worry about carbs to lose weight. Worry about fat when you want to be really healthy. Did that make sense?
-
Avoid the simple carbs. I.E. candy and anything processed or artificial. Eat complex carbs. I.E. breads, rices, etc.Fats you can worry about later.
-
breads are a no no if you're following the latest carb diet
-
Well i made my own diet and I have lost 6 inches on my waist and I have gained 28lbs of muscle. Take everything in moderation and you will be okay.
-
Hmmm....well i've tried the low carb diet, but I can't seem to make it as far as a low fat diet. Everything I enjoy eating has a lot of carbs. Health sucks!
-
the low carb diets are dangerous

The best way to lose weight is to exercise and eat right. Meaning not too much of anything. If you are bodybuilding you should est 4+ times a day and concentrate on high protein meals.
-
What has a lot of protein besides meat and nuts???? I don't really enjoy meat too much anymore.
-
eggs and egg plant
-
Seminal fluids have a lot of protein too, but I guess that qualifies as "meat and nuts" :smirk:

You should eat a small meal full of complex carbs 1 hour before and immediately following a work out. Your body needs the carbs.. this no carb thing is retarded in my opinion. It's basically the ignorant person's diet. If you really want to lose weight the proper way, pay attention to your intake of nutrients. Many different nutrients effect your body differently and can not only cause your body to lose weight faster, but a lot of them have huge health benefits. If you can take the time to worry about your weight, than I think you can take the time to research the type of foods you need to be eating. Otherwise, consult a specialist.

If you want to lose weight cut down on calories. I work out 5 times a week and only take in 2000-2300. That is close to the numbers the base on all the nutrion box on foods. To get energy eat a carb meal 3 hrs before bed the night before. It will take that long for the carbs to give you energy. Before a workout you can take some ginseng or water. Ginseng will give you energy. But do not eat a meal 1hr. before that will give you cramps and lowers the amount of energy you can put out. You have to waste some of it to digest food. Lower how many carbs and increase protein to optimize weightlifting.Guide:More Carbs --> running, physical sportsMore Protein -->Weightlifting and retaining muscleEqual Amounts of Both -->For no extrenuating workouts and runs good for a balanced diet for no weight loss or gain.

i saw this thing on the msn homepage i think, and you put in your height, gender, age, and how often you work out and it said i should be eating 4700 calories a day.. i was like wtf, i would have to go through the day eating non-stop
-
4700 calories? no sweat. find some thousand calorie cheesecake.
-
That site must have been for body building. In order to take in that many calories you have to eat 4-5 times a day. But take them in smal portions, but to eat that many calories you have to be working out and running 6-7 days a week for about 3-4 hrs each day. As for the carbs and fats my diet goes like this:40% protein, 30% fat & carbs.
