One of my best friends has type 2 genital herpes. She admitted this to me after knowingly having them for over a year. She lost her virginity a few months before having an outbreak. She's only been with the one guy, who's known as being a womanizing cheater who brags about the women he's been with. He's been in a band for like 15 years. (Totally irrelevant; but she's in her early twenties and he's in his late thirties...) Anyway, she told me that her doctor actually told her that her genital herpes were genetically passed from one of her parents. I know quite a bit about herpes, and this sounds like b.s. to me. Please tell me if I'm correct, or if this is really possible? I think she's either in denial or blatently lying to cover her shame or trying to defend him. (She's still in love with him and is continuing to have unprotected sex with him knowing he's promiscuous.)
