In reply to:people still have no right to tell people they can or cannot believe in something.. or should or should not for that matter. Why not? People give all kinds of advice and state all kinds of opinions about all kinds of things on this message board: "You might have a tumor, go see a doctor." "You're too young to have sex." "Your belief in a magical deity is silly."In reply to:Alot of things happen in the world, why does everyone have to bring religion into it? Not every christian goes out and bombs a building.. not every muslim wants to take down a buildingNo, but the ones who about to blow something up all say that they're attacking the infidels in the name of God.Your scripture drips with hatred: Leviticus gives religious folks an excuse to bash gays; the story of Onan gives some people complexes about masturbating; people find justifications for slavery; all the capricious slaying that God did in the Old Testament gives people the idea that life is not really very important; etc., etc., etc.Why is it OK for Christians to bash homosexuals, for Jerry Falwell to say that we brought 9/11 on ourselves through our sinfulness (i.e., people in NYC vote Democratic), but it's not OK for people to point out the inconsistencies and absurdities of the Christian (and Moslem and Jewish, etc.) religion?

Top 10 signs you're a fundamental christian
-
I find it fucking hilarious that a millon people can read the same book, come up with a million interpretations that fit their own agenda and believe that they now know the will of god. I'm agnostic because I'm not so arrogant to think that I know anything about god.
-
Unless, of course, you are God. So far I haven't been able to prove that you're not. My faith is growing. Or something is growing.
-
I'm on a path of self discovery. I got distracted about half way down though

May I join you on your path?

If you're a fundamentalist Christian named George W. Bush, you care about unborn human life, but you don't care about the medical care the mother of the unborn life gets (or doesn't get) while she's pregnant. You care more about a fertilized egg than you care about people who have degenerative diseases that might be cured by stem cells derived from the fertilized eggs. You have this fantasy that the hundreds of thousands of unused zygotes in deep freeze will be adopted by couples who can't conceive on their own, even though only about 70 have been up until now, and most of the rest are destined to be destroyed (or lost when the lab loses power long enough for the eggs to defrost). What ever happened to the conservative idea that the government shouldn't define science? That idea must have been lost when the evangelical were busy getting state to remove references to evolution from textbooks.
You also killed the Darfur Accountability Act that the Senate passed, which would have condemned the genocide going on there; a lot of children (and adults) are dying, and the Sudanese government does respond to political pressure. You must think that black African human life is not very valuable...certainly not as valuable as black crude oil.

Im really not sure where this thread is going but Ill throw in my 2 cents...
Seem to be forgetting the basic 10 commandments, some of you US Fundementalist Christains, though shalt not kill- So start a war. Bravo!
If the love of money is the root of all evil why is america so capitalist?
Hindus are sane, normal people who believe the universe grew out of some blue guys navel, and are stark raving bonkers, But STILL you have to respect their believes because they are sane, normal people.. Its like saying the moon is made out of norwiegen beaver cheese (Thank you Douglas Adams) but I cant prove the moon isnt made out of norwiegen beaver cheese, so your view is just as valid as mine that its made out of rock!
Science and Christianity so cooperate- The 7 days were not "Days" but a way of saying 7 roughly equal periods of time. The scientific story of creation and the biblical story do match. Just.
Masturbation is ok with christianity, I reckon, as long as it isnt done Lusting after "Immoral Relationships" (So, if your fantasising about your wife its ok, but if your looking at a big double page lesbo playboy spread its not.) As for onan, well, back in those times people still needed a lot of healthy alpha males or whatever to keep the tribe going and whathaveyou. Its more for practical purposes than anything else.
Same with the jehovahs witnesses saying you cant mix blood- back then they had no idea about blood types etc. If they gave/recieved blood they would probably die. With modern science its perfectly safe so the belief is outdated and only existed in the first place to stop witchcraft and illness.

The 7 days were not "Days" but a way of saying 7 roughly equal periods of time.Which version of the bible ar you reading? When is a day not a day? When it's a religious apologia.> Masturbation is ok with christianityIt depends how you interpret Onan's story, where he spilled his seed all over the ground when God wanted him to have sex with a family member. When insane ideas are believed by an individual, that individual is deemed insane. When insane ideas are believe by the masses (the transmogrification of wine and wafers, for example), those masses are deemed to be religious, and are respected.
