Hi there, I am 18 and have started to learn to drive, before I started to learn I always imagined a manual would be quite hard..but for all the imagining in the world I didnt imagine it would be THIS hard, I find it absolutely evil!
I am on my 9th lesson and still cannot get some things which are fairly basic, although Im sure one of them is not my fault as I simply cannot notice nor hear it.
Biting point- I simply cannot hear or feel in his car when I reach it I merely guess by how far Ive moved my leg and let him tell me if its too much or too little. I have told him I cannot get it and he said we cant spend any time on one thing.
Gears- Surprisingly mastering gears is the easiest part of it, no problems changing gears as a rule.
Clutch control- Also find awful... my foot goes to hard off or too soft off.
Steering- When he first taught me the proper way to steer I couldnt do it at all, but now I can fairly well but I seem drift into the middle or side of the road without noticing or appears to be going head on into a car without noticing myself.
I do suffer from tourettes and slight OCD and nerves and I get a fair bit of nerves and stress driving.
The instrctor himself Im on the fence with.
He talks the talk
'no point in me getting frsutrated because you wont learn'
or
'you mess it up who cares, youre a learner'
Yet he does not walk the walk.
There I am going along I do the wrong thing and he gets frustrated and sometimes he says things that get to me a bit.
I've had 9 1 hour lessons and have progressed but I dont feel I am doing very well at all, I have no confidence on the road yet.
Could this be due to my stress levels , tourettes, or the instructor not being top form?
I also would like personall experiences, even if you got on fine
Thanks
Rob
