Got all my blood tests back. No diabetes, no hepatis. Nothing wrong with me at all apparently... Very strange... I guess I'm just getting older and that's why I feel like crap all of the time....However, I did read my report on my blood work - and my white blood cell count was pretty high. The range is supposed to be 4.0 - 10.0 K/UL and mine was 11.7. I'm trying to figure out why it's high? I know it can increase from infection, trauma, stress, etc. The only things I can think of that could have caused this is 1.) The severe infection I got from passing a massive kidney stone and having it get stuck which landed me in the hospital nearly a year ago, and 2.) The major amount of hurling (14 hrs. straight) I did a couple weeks ago after having a couple drinks. Would either of these things have done it? I wouldn't think so. I read up on it and it said it could be a sign of cancers, including leukemia. All of my other blood chemistry and hematology looks good. What's the deal?

White blood cell count

Your white cell count could very well be up cos of that bout of sickness you had hon. The real test of whether there is anything to worry about would be to get the white cell count done over a period of time, you could be fighting off an infection your not aware of now, and that would explain the high white cell count.

Why do you think 11.7 K/ul is so high? Sounds slightly elevated to me...could be a minor subclinical infection, possibly from one of the things you mentioned, or from something else.

Post-viral fatigue? Post-viral fatigue is an autoimmune disease when the immune system doesn't switch off properly after it has dealt with a small viral infection. It causes people to be very tired all the time.

Uh, it's higher than normal... Why am I concerned? Because I haven't been sick.
