Cold sores are a form of herpes and develop only on the OUTSIDE of your mouth. What he has is a canker sore. A canker sore is just an ulcer. You can get them from eating acid or sour or spicy food. You can also get them from biting the inside of your mouth. A lot of times people bite themselves at night while they are asleep and don't even know it. Gargle with some warm salt water a couple times a day. You might want to gargle with some perioxide too. Just be careful not to swallow it and to rinse your mouth out well afterward. It'll only last a couple days. You'll be okay. Just try not to bother it - don't eat acidic or spicy food and don't play with it.

The Mayo Clinic's Web site says:In reply to:Cold sores usually appear on your lips. Occasionally, they occur on your nostrils, chin or fingers. And, although it's unusual, they may occur inside your mouth — but only on your gums or hard palate, which is the roof of your mouth. If the sore appears on other soft tissues inside your mouth, it may be a canker sore, but it's not a cold sore.

If youve had them on ur tongue its been a canker sore not cold sore. Lik eeveryone has been sayin, canker sores are ulcers that form in the mouth. cold sores are a form of herpes that form outside the mouth on the lips
