Hi guys,About 1-2 months ago I had my girlfriend give me oral sex. She had a cold sore almost fully healed. (I did not know that a personn with cold sore can give you genital herpes)I am not sure if thats what I have but:On the day after the oral sex -- my penis got red and I had really strong burning feeling. Even I got a little swallow. After 1-2 weeks -- things began to normalize and I almost healed. However, till today I still have some redness and rarely a slight burning feeling. I do not have bubles or sores or fliuds. Its just redness as far as I recognize it.Do you guys think its genital herpes? Also, I am an international student in the US so I dont know where/how and what do I need to go to a dermatologist or the appropriate doctor. In my country, you can pretty much go to the hospital and get an appointment for the particular type of doctor from the receptionist. I am afraid that in US it would not work that way Could you guys help me?THANKS!!

I doubt it's herpes especially sice it occurred the day after. it would take longer than that for herpes to take effect. I don't know what you have. You can go to a local clinic or just any doctor. Doesn't the school (I'm assuming you are going to some college?) have a medical clinic?

Hi! THANKS for replying.Well, I hope it is not herpes. When I did search online for herpes pictures -- they look way scarer than what I have. I do not have any sores -- just the redness and burning feeling.Yes the college has a sorta nurse clinic where u can get a physical. I doubt they can give me expert opinion. I do not wish to go to my school clinic because it is a small college and I am kinda ashamed .. everyone knows everyone. How can I find out about a local clinic and will I be able to walk -in ?

Taken from :http://www.niaid.nih.gov/factsheets/stdherp.htmWhat are the symptoms?Unfortunately, most people who have genital herpes don't know it because they never have any symptoms, or they do not recognize any symptoms they might have. When there are symptoms, they can be different in each person. Most often, when a person becomes infected with herpes for the first time, the symptoms will appear within 2 to 10 days. These first episodes of symptoms usually last 2 to 3 weeks.
