I once heard that after you die, you are left with nothing but your memories. For a while I believed this, utill about a year ago I decided that after you die there's nothing. Is there any scientific proof that somehow, after your brain stops working, your memories are still fluent? I don't know why I remembered this now, or why I ever believed that, maybe just looking for more than there really is.

After-death
-
I'm not gonna comment cause my views make me a religious biggot on here, so you may be able to guess what I think.
-
i'm still wondering about that myself....
no one really knows... it's just what you believe. it's not like we can ask a dead person what happened after u dided.lol i think that would freak me out major..LOL! :grin:lol
-
There's no way that anything like that can be proven. Although, once your heart and lungs stop working, technically, the cells in your body are still alive. It does take a while for them to also die due to lack of nutrition, oxygen and the buildup of toxins. I have no idea what that timeframe is though.

It takes about 17 years for your body to totally decompose I think that physical death is one thing but spiritual death is another. It would be easy to say that once you die your dead but i like to have an open mind.Firstly, heven, hell...nah, think about it, the population would be trillions by now and with an ever increasing population heaven would be like trying to catch the train to work by now.Theres a program on TV in the UK this morning called er, 'This Morning' i think, lol i can't even remember i watched it yesterday. The've over the past month or so been doing about past lives where people are hypnotised and talk about their past lives, then the've gone off to research what they say and in many cases the've been able to fairly accurately recall a past life, some are more accurate than others but some of them even knew the days they were born + there are birth certificates to prove it, even things such as weddings they knew where and remembered where they were braught up, stuff that someone couldan't possibally make up + there also being evidence, i think that our energy passes on from us when we die and moves onto someone about to live. I mean lets face it people beleive in religion because of their insecurities of death, at least Heaven is a better prospect to either being burned to ash or put in a box to decompose.

Here's a concept that I have wondered about in the past. If you look at everything around you, your body, the computer, chair, desk... everything around you, is at the most basic level just a bunch of sub-atomic particles bunched together to form "something". You, a human, are not a rock, but in reality, sub-atomically you are. How can these random sub-atomic elements come together to form molecules both living and inanimate. How can these particles come together to where we can think and even wonder about concepts like this. It's really amazing. So, in this universe, everything is in some sort of equilibrium in the form of energy. That's just a fact of physics. Then what happens to the energy that is in your body when you die? Does it just stop???? Is it returned in some form back into this world? The question you asked about, the memories after you die are part of the metaphysical realm. Are spirits, ghosts, whatever, just our departed energy? It's an interesting concept that has been debated throughout known history. Maybe we'll find out when we die... but then again if life just stops...maybe we won't.

I know it obviously can't be proven, it was just some lame theory I heard a while ago, I don't know why I brought it up.
-
that is interesting to think about sdp. What happens to the energy within out bodies when we die? When we die, the energy within our bodies does escape, though I'd doubt it's in the form of any kind of spirit. Energy is recycled, it's impossible to create energy or stop energy.we are formed from energy and atoms that have excisted as long as the universe has. Isn't that wierd? the sub-atomic particals and energy that we're formed from were once rocks floating in space..
-
I honestly think when you are dead ur dead and who really cares. Sorta because of what sdp was talking about. If we are made up of the same stuff as a computer desk lets say then why doesn't the computer desk have a spirit an go to heaven or hell if it was a good computer desk lol. Maybe the reason we are 'alive' is because of a spirit controling these particuls and thats why we will continue to live spiritually. Who really nos and who really cares because you will find out when you die, and if you dont find out when you die you'll already be dead so it wont matter.

What if Christians are right and there is a hell?
-
then i'll bend over for the devil to poke me with his pitchfork, just hopefully it will be lubed. But seriously, I don't no. Maybe i'll end up in hell for not believing and i'll have to deal with the consequences when I am faced.
-
Well, at least you're willing to say that. Most non-believers I know just say chit like "well...you're just wrong" or stuff like that.
-
This thread does make me wonder about something I've always thought about. Some people have died and have been brought back. Many of these people have claimed to see a bright light. Some people say it's the electrical shock that is being sent through your body when they resuscitate you, and other will say it's heaven. I don't know if it's heaven or not, but I still believe in it.As far as going to heaven or hell, be a good person and you'll have nothing to worry about. My belief anyways.
-
yea i'm willing to say that but it bugs me so much when i told to someone really religious and i'm like "what if there is nothing after this" and then are all defensive and there "there is an i know that for a fact" and then tell me i'm going to hell for believe anything other than that lol. In the end we are probably all wrong. As for what websex said about being dead and stuff. First you would expect the spirit to take some time to get to either heaven or hell so i doubt the light is that, but hey maybe it is. I personally feel that the light just occurs when u open ur eyes for a split second so u think it occurs when u were dead but it really didn't kind of like a deja-vu situation. The pupils since ur brain stoped functing probably weren't usta the light and the overload only allows u to see white for a little bit until u really regain consciousness. Thats just my view tho i'm probably way off.
-
The non-religious hypothesis is that the tunnel with the bright light at the end of it that many people (not all of them) see near death is a natural hallucination that results from not enough oxygen in the brain.People often meet God or another religious figure in near-death experiences, but each sees a deity from his own religion, so again this could just be an internally-generated dream.Near death experiences therefore don't prove anything, though of course they also don't disprove anything.
-
One of my problems with direct science is there is no mind under its practice.
-
maybe they see their own deity because they all want the deity they say to be theirs when really it may be another one, but they didn't stay long enough to find out the truth and that is 'god' or whoever pushing them back so they dont learn the truth and tell the rest of us or maybe even a fake decoy.
-
even tho me and my dad arent close at all... we always have good talks about god.. he met a man.. and i dunno.. some sort of evil spirit.. like entered his body.. and he got blessed or something (i dont remember it all it was like a year ago he told me) and my dad says every 15 seconds or so he says "thank you jesus" or "i praise you oh god" stuff like that...
So i dunno.. my grandmas big on religion.. shes had a vision.. that she was there when jesus was being crucified and he looked right at her and said "Im doing this for you Jane" and you know something.. i do believe that.. my grandma is so christian.. so believing.. it totally changed her life around.. when she was 40 she looked like she could have been 60.. *my dad says* and after that experience the next day she woke up with so much energy and looked like she could be 25.. i dunno
I got off trackbut yeah
Ive heard of the things where people die and then are brung back to life.. its really interesting..
I hope no one says something like.. "what does he say in his sleep" about that guy cuz it would be
But i love you all -
No wonder you're so messed up

but it makes me unique
