I know this guy at my high school, hes the half back and hes a junoir. His best 40 time was 4.4! and hes in high school, ive seen nfl running backs run it in 4.4. Does that sound normal to you guys or what?

40 Yard TImes
-
cough cough lol i dont know maybe or maybe not, some people work really hard and they really are fast...recently my whole football team went to a Speed school called parisi's and they teach the proper technique for running and such and they also have strengh techinques to. and most of are guys decreased there 40 times by 0.5 - 1 second or MORE
-
i'm a sophomore in high school and i ran my 40 in 5.21
-
I havent ran the 40 yet but i ran the 50 yard and i ran it in 6 seconds flat during the middle of 8th grade. So maybe i could run the 40 in 5-5.1 seconds
-
I usually keep out of these convos, but I'm curious. I've never ran a 40 yard (I didn't even know about it till this thread), but I was wondering, does it start with you standing still, or is there a run up to it?
-
It starts with you standing still, usally in a 3- point stance( a 3 point stance is for football when you have one hand down)
-
i've done a little bit of track and a 4.4 40 yard is pretty damn good
-
Is that with equipment? I calculated it out and 4.4s on the 40 yard is equal to 12s on the 100m. For a football player, that's great. Many high school 100m sprinters don't make that time.
-
It depends, usally you dont run with equiptment, atleast i never have but im sure some coaches have you do it
-
i dont think that i have ever done the 40, but i have done the 60. And i think i got 6.3 on that.
-
I can run a 4.4!
-
for naturally aspirated athletes, 4.4 is not uncommon. As a lineman senior year in highschool weighing 265 pounds, I ran a 4.8 second 40 yard sprint. So it is all form and strength.
