Okay, saturday evening my sister stopped by my work on her way home to tell me she's going to/try to set me up with a co-worker of hers. She said she had been "pimping me out" (her choice of words, not mine) all day. She was going on about how she told him how cute and adorable I was, that I had a wonderful personality, that I was so darn funny (gotta love those sisters, exspecually when they make you sound better than you are lol), she even told him that I was a virgin which he seemed to really respect. She could have left that last part out but hey, the cats out of the bag, I can get over it. Well she was planning to bring a few pictures of me up to her work this Tuesday, but now she has devised a wonderful plan to have us meet today. At first I agreed to it, but now I’m having second thoughts… well I’m not saying I don’t want to meet this guy I’m just really nervous. From what she’s told me, he is the perfect guy for me. He is 23, he went to college and his major is journalism and his minor is music (two things I love most! Writing and music are my passion), he loves to sing (I sing all the time and I’m fairly sure it gets annoying after a while), he loves to talk (me too!), and he has so many other great qualities that make him my perfect match. Only problem, I’m suppoed to meet him today and I’m really nervous. What do I say? Ahhh! I’m so confussed!

What's a major and minor?

**Sis. I say go for it hon, you have to, your a wonderful person so there is nothing to be nervous about, if he doesn't think your wonderful then he aint worth being with.........good luck and let me know how it all goes *excited* *big hugs*
oh and watch out - typing in a colour apparently means you are demanding attention to your posts *laffin* ** -
Yeah, go for it, I've been in that postion, though someone from work set me up, View that how you will! I was extremely nervous, beause it almost seems as if you both know what you are there for so you're under double the amount of pressure to give a good impression. The most important thing to realise is that he is just as nervous!! if you have that in your thoughts then it'll be easier, you're both in the same boat here, so try to enjoy yourself, you most certainly have nothing to lose, and whatever happens, it'll be an experience, and that'll help in future situations.Good luck!

Well my sister and I went out to lunch and we just happened to pick up a milk shake for her friend she works with. We get there and he wass no where in sight, so I was a bit dissapointed but then again it was a bit of a relief that I didn't see him because that would give me more time to calm down and not be so nervous for when I do talk to him. Well 'm chit chatting with my sister and my friend when this really cute guy walks by and I look at my sister and said "Oh he's cute" and my sister just smiled and said "That's him." He walked by again and smiled at my sister and me... and that was about it. I didn't even get to talk to him! Oh well, there will be another time lol Thanks for all your replies, it's really going to help when I get to see him again ^_^ I can't wait, I'm really excited. Wish me luck!

Bet the heart was going away like a jack hammer!! lolStill a great feeling huh? Makes you feel alive.Might have been better to have talked to him there and then precisely because you haven't had time to think, though thats just how I am, thinking too much doesn't do me any good at all lol Still, looking good - a nice smile tells a thousand words and makes you weak at the knees, and with this guy you didn't even have to be told by your sister he is cute, you noticed all by yourself!!Seems as if as you said in first post you both have loads in common, so at least thats a starting block, things are easier said than done I know, but just start up a conversation about what he does exactly in journalism and can he get you a job!! lol Or to say you love music can you teach me to play an instrument!! lol Corny I know, but only said in fun. Somthing along those lines may well be a handy ice breaker. Virginity thing has its good and bad points I guess, its something you don't really want broadcast across the world, as some people will mock and try to make fun, (the shallow ones I might add) I feel its something you share with people who is special to you, (which includes close friends) as its something special in itself. It reveals a vuneralbilty in the person which inspires trust and a kind heart, something hopefully he has in abundance, I just pray he won't bring it up, dunno about you, but in your position I'd die of embarrassment!! lol there's plenty of time for closer talk if all goes well. Oh, this kinda thing really warms the heart, hope it all goes "plain sailing" as they say Truly I wish you all the luck in the world!!

A "major" is the main area you are studying at college. A "minor" is another area that you are studying a bit.
-
Sis, i can't wait LOL hes good looking too eh........getting all giddy I think im more excited than you are grin
-
What are they equivalent to? A-Level, BA, pHD? asking because I was chatting to some american friend of a friend and pretended I knew :S
-
You choose a "Major" in a 4/5 yr college and you get a Bachelors of Arts or Science (BA or BS) in that "Major". Often colleges require you to choose a "minor" which is a field of study not related to your Major. Often this minor is just a handful of classes that you need to take. For example, I majored in Electrical Engineering and received a BSEE and I minored in economics.

And now you're the president of Qualcomm?

I'm excited to i cant wait to see what happens. I hope everything goes good for you. Me and my g/f are going on our first date this weekend and im kinda nervous to cause i dunno where to take her and hope i say everything right wish me luck to lol.

"College" = university, and without further qualification it normally means people are doing a bachelor degree. However the US school system is more generalist than in the UK, with more subjects in the final years but at less depth; so first year US college is probably more like UK A-level - of course they go on. (US PhDs are very tough, though.)

Thanks for clearing that up, UK phDs are tough too! When my bro did his in PPE he put 3 stones on writing his dissertation Sorry to go a little off topic here btw
