I'm 23 and a bit overweight, so I decided to take up jogging. My problem is that after running for maybe 10 minutes at most, my lower back starts hurting. I tried buying inserts for my shoes, as was recomended a friend but that doesn't seem to be working. My question is, does anyone have any ideas on why that is? Could it be I'm too fat to run? I don't want to walk, as I like pushing myself through the run, but the back aches are what's kiling me. Please help!

Running and back pains

I can't tell for sure, but my guess would be because of a lack of ab support. You say that you have some extra weight, so that adds extra strain to your back. If the pain is bad, I'd go to a doctor or chiropractor. I think that things should get better if you do exercises for your abs and as you lose some weight.
