Have you seen England? Basicaly the whole world is shit. Just america is a little less shit than most the other countrys.
-
Weed
-
id rather live in europe
-
I doubt you would be saying that if you actualy lived here. Alot of americans think england is great but its shit and the government fucks you over ten times worse than george bush. I hate this place so much
-
Id rather stay in the good ol' USA lol
-
Alot of americans think englandWe do? Maybe it's those guys guys in the furry hats in front of the palace that do it for us.
-
Well those hats are rather hot. But the question is whats inside them? I bet they use them to smuggle drugs and condoms into the palace for the queen.
-
The queen looks divine in her many and varied hats. If you miss her while in the U.S., you can slip over the border to Canada.
-
true i am jellous of her many hats, she must have an extra strong hand from waving and wanking her gardener and many buttlers.

In reply to: Jeez, I'm pretty anal, and even I let that one go. I let it go when someone is relating a personal story, rather than being pedantic, or a pain in the ass. Well, that's just one of my habits, to correct people's English. I am thinking of becoming a copy editor. Also, sorry Roc, if it seemed I was harping on you! I really didn't mean it to be a big thing!
-
I like living in the UK...........everyone has something to gripe about no matter where they live.
-
In reply to:I mean it is not instinct for us to want...Do you mean it's not instinctive? In reply to:...like wolves are- they will go...One of many examples of bizzare m-dash usage. It's either:"...like wolves are--they will go..." (traditional and standard); or hip, New York Times style:"...like wolves are -- they will go..."Do you realize that you use an m-dash in half your postings? I rather like it. But keep in mind that you must use it sparingly in a single piece of writing. But using it frequently in different posts is fine.In reply to:You don't have to be American to care about people dying.Shouldn't the posessive precede the gerund? Actually, it looks pretty stilted if you write it "properly"; I prefer your way.In reply to:...you sound like the stereotypical jock that's in movies. What's the purpose of the "that's"?In reply to:...the sufferings of...Is the plural correct in the context in which it is used? (That was really pedantic.)
-
By the way, I'm going to keel over and die if you don't tell me what the Rainbow Room is. Someone must have told you or one of your friends.
-
True but the people whore I live make life miserable what with the ebf and shit like that. Also the govenment fucks everyone over so badly. Thats why I want to move back to the usa. In this country I feel that I am here to serve the government rather than the government being here to serve the people like it should be. But there are good and bad points for both palces but for me I prefere america because when I lived there I didnt have people picking fights with me everytime I go outside.
-
What's "ebf"?
-
In reply to: bizzare m-dash usage Is it incorrect? I haven't studied this in school yet, so I don't know. In reply to: What's the purpose of the "that's"? I once heard (from one of my teachers) that Nebraskans have [what is considered] the standard accent, but we do tend to slur words and create ridiculous contractions (example: shouldn't've for should not have). When I typed "that's" I meant "that is". That would be my mistake. In reply to: Is the plural correct in the context in which it is used? I thought so because they suffered in more than one way, such as mentally, spiritually, and physically. I'm not sure on this one, though.
-
...you sound like the stereotypical jock that's in movies.I didn't have an issue with the contraction; in fact the syntax is OK, I suppose. It just sounds a bit stilted. How about: "...you sound like the stereotypical movie jock."

Since we're talking about English, I have this question to ask: How do you know when to use double and single quotation marks?
-
English Boarder Front, they go round and beat up anyone they dont like. They even sink as low and beating up women. They kill they steal, bascicaly they can do what they want through fear. You mention anything negative about the EBF and one of them hears and they are on the phone and get all their friends down there and put you in hospital. You really wouldnt want to mess with these guys they kill people and shit like that. My aunts friends were put in hospital because they felt like kicking them in for fun. They were just a married coupple taking a walk coming back from the pub and they came along and beat the shit out of both of them even his wife. About 20 on 2 because they cant fight without outnumbering people they make me sick to my stomache I hate them all so much. People like them make this country such a shit hole. And then the new "Chav" thing has come along. Chavs are like minni EBF people only not as exreme but they will still kick you in for fun. I cant go outside with one of these ass holes starting on me. I have never had a fight in in the 2 years i have been back in this country mainly because anyone who starts on me is in a big group and I may be big but I'm not stupid enough to think I can take on more than 4 guys so I just have to get out of the situation before anything kicks off. I am good at getting out of those situations with minimal violence. Most of them are scrawny little twats if it was a one on one I would tear them apart but saftey in numbers I guess so they bring all their friends along to start shit. All my friends basicaly run off when people come up to me starting shit the only person who has my back is my friend rich. Yeah thats one of the main reason why I hate this country so much. Because people are shit heads. For more info about chavs: Click Here

I started to write an explanation myself, then I realized that others have already done a much better job than I could. AskOxford's advice on the use of the hyphen (or n-dash, or single dash) is here. Their first line: "Hyphenation in English is highly variable, and in many contexts, it really doesn't matter." And to think, I always thought the British were so anal about their language.AskOxford's advice on the use of the dash (or m-dash, or double dash) is here. You use the terms "m-dash" and "n-dash" when discussing typography. A dash is as wide as the letter "m", and a hyphen is as wide as the letter "n".Digressions...This explanation of the history of the octothorpe ("#") is interesting, if you're a nerd.I had a nit to pick (over an error of omission) in their FAQ on the use of "lay" versus "lie". I sent the dictionary folks in Oxford an e-mail on the matter.Question: When you say "It is raining", what exactly is "it"?

These people sound like terrorists, but they don't even have a philosophy, demented or otherwise. They're not even trying to be the king. They're like a pack of rabid, mangy wolves.I was going to ask how the government tolerates that kind of thing, but then I thought about how the police don't pay attention to much of anything in some areas of Miami. Aren't they putting up cameras all over the place in England? It doesn't appear that all of the electronic surveillance is doing much good.
