within the last year, i really feel i have noticed a change in my stools. within this year as well, i had my first year of college, where i was forced to endure some very unhealthy college food. during this time i felt my stools have changed especially in their color. it seems to be much lighter in color, often sandy colored or tan.also they seem to be much looser. as i got a checkup by a doctor, he believes this is a result of my diet. however my most recent bowel movement was quite odd. At first, i thought i craped alot of blood. then i realized it was in fact my breakfast being watermelon.(I only ate watermelon this moring) is it normal to poop out your food like this? i would think it would be digested just like anything else.could this mean i am having digestive problems/disease?

Watermelon seeds don't get digested well, if that's what you're seeing. It does sound like your diet isn't very good. Perhaps you need more vegetables?

I don't think watermelon would make it through your digestive tract unchanged. The bile in your digestive system really does a number of food, unless it's very fibrous. I doubt you were seeing watermelon juice; blood would be a better bet. It's very easy for test for blood in the stool (a doctor can do it in his office). Unless the doctor could be more specific, and if you're not recovering normal function while away from school for the summer, I'd be worried about early symptoms of some sort of bowel disease.
