As a survivor of really deep depression, here's what you should consider doing.
1. Learn to love yourself
Don't listen to ignorant fucks. Don't let 'em bring you down. If you do, then YOU ARE WEAK! Don't be weak. Fuck 'em.
2. Stay busy
Don't MOPE all the time. Do something to keep yourself busy. Work if you need to. Make art or write stuff. Just keep your mind occupied with positive vibes
3. Listen to music
Listen to good shit. I find that Nirvana worked for me when I was depressed. I don't know why but something about the way Kurt wrote/sang the songs. Try to find more uplifting stuff and avoid the emo shit. Try some folk music if you must.
4. Watch your eating habits and change 'em
Eat good! Usually if you're depressed, you eat, eat and eat. Don't do that! Eat 3 meals a day and try not to eat in between them. Avoid sugar and junk food. Depression tends to cause weight gain in some and weight loss for others.
5. Don't cut yourself or look for attention on message boards
It's lame, pathetic and WEAK! Any counselor will tell you that too! Cutting yourself is mindless and dangerous. Take a piece of paper and a pen and write a song instead. Do something productive. Also, don't seek out a lot of attention online. You'll only run into pathetic dickheads who'll drag you down further if you let them!
