I never really cared to read any of the books. I just wait until the movies come out. I'd rather watch a movie than read a book any day. I really like the movies, though. They're some of my favorites.

Although I don't care for the mass-marketing of the series, I do still read the books. The last one confused the hell out of me, but I just picked the new one yesterday and am a 1/3 of the way through it. It's pretty good so far, I must admit.

I've not read any of them yet but as soon as I finish re-reading my Anne McCaffrey (2 days or so) I shall definitely make a start on them. My ex-girlfriend bought me the whole lot last year and my mum's just bought the most recent one for me.
-
Yeah, I just bought another Robert Jordan (or maybe it's Jordan Robert? I hate his name) book, so that should keep me busy. I'm thinking about reading The Scarlet Letter after that.
-
Yes I have.. it was pathetic
-
You're a racist, aren't you? You have some grudge against people with glasses, or with cool scars... how pathetic.

In reply to: I've not read any of them yet but as soon as I finish re-reading my Anne McCaffrey just finished the catteni series by Anne McCaffrey myself, which are you reading?

My sister just got the new harry potter book today; she's been in her room all afternoon reading page after page. I've not personally read the books myself, but I do intend to one day...

Welp . . . finished the Half-Blood Prince last night and in my opinion, I think it is probably the best HP book Rowling has written. It was pretty good.
-
Just pointing out, although I mention parts of the book, they are just the first 2 chapters and I reveal nothng of the story.I was so surprised by it. Not story-wise, although some bits were very unexpected, but like how the first 2 chapters have nothing to do with Harry. In the sense that for the first time out of all 6 books, there was a scene described fully that Harry couldn't have seen, heard or even known about. And it happened twice, one after the other. It was just so strange, when I started I thought for a moment that Rowling had completely changed her style, which would not have been good.

I finished the book monday (didn't get ahold of it until sunday night...mum had it) and I can honestly say I was not impressed by it. I thought it was poorly writen compared to the first five books. It seemed as though she tried to rush the story. When I finished it I was like I waited a whole year for this?! But all in all, it was worth the read just to find out what happened (even though it really pissed me off in many parts) and I will admit there were a few things that really surprised/upset me in this new book. I wouldn't rank this as her best book, it's be more like #3 in my personal opinion.

I thought it was great, as bob said i was a bit fazed by the first 2 chapters..........i wanted to get to harry LOL but i enjoyed it, i wasn't shocked by any of it, i kinda thought it would go that way, i can't wait till the next one............but comparing it to the first 2 books, which were in my opinion 'childrens' book, i don't think this one was the same somehow, lots darker, and the bit with dumbledore drinking that stuff.........well i don't think they will put much of that scene in the film if they make one..........

I actually liked the first few chapters. I especially liked how the politics of the Magical world interacted/interfered with normal society. All the cover-ups and the political intrigue. I especially liked when the Minister of Magic told the Minister of Europe how instead of it being a hurricane, it was really giants. I thought that was cool.

I agree, I really enjoyed the first two chapters. I liked how she explained how the wizarding world and muggle world would interact during the days of voldermort. I reread the book (just to make sure I didn't miss anything), and I agree with you Sis, it is a lot darker and I've come to grow fond of this book lol I can't wait till the next one ^^ Sis, have you ever read anything by Laura K. Hamilton? I think you'd enjoy her Meredith Gentry series (this one is about the world of faeries) as well as her Anita Blake series (which is about vampires, werewolves, and all types of the undead). At first I was kind of apprehensive about reading them but in the end I just devoured every one of her books. If you like sex and action you'll find it all in theses books. Just thought you should look for these books if you haven't already read them ^^

You might wanna check the date on the posts before you respond to them. Some of this threads you're responding to are several months old. Unless you have something unique and interesting to add, it's probably not a good idea to resurrect them. Especially just to say yeah me too or that was cool and the like.
