Just a simple question i think someone should be able to answer for sure. As in 100%...lol me and my gf had unprotected sex on the 5th day of her period, we have heard that you cannot get pregnant while on your period and have decided not to have sex unless she is on her period. i just wanted to know the possiblities of it. Its begining to really get to me. We are only 16 and have been having sex for about 3 months now, been together about 7. Of and on protected and unprotected. Thanks for the help. and i dont want any rants on having sex at my age please, its my decision so just leave if your gonna say somethign like that.

While the egg only lives a day or two after ovulation, sperm can wait five days (and sometimes even longer) for the egg to arrive. Therefore, if ovulation was going to be on day 10, sex that occurred on day 5 might still lead to pregnancy. And some women will still be menstruating on day 5, or even day 7. So the answer is yes, one can get pregnant during menstruation, especially if you tend to have short cycles. I hope that this answered your question and encourage you to explore the site for answers to other questions you might have about menstruation, birth control, and more
Hope it helps

Not true, as BMOC pointed out. There is no "safe" time. Is it OK if I rant about having sex without protection, even once, if you're not trying to start a pregnancy? You really should always use some form of birth control.
