Hi,
I am 13 and a half. I have not started going through puberty. No armpit hair, no bigger dick, nothing. I have kidney problems and take medication for it. I take medicinal steriods in very low doses. Could this be the reason for the delayed puberty. My cousin who is 2 months older went through puberty when he was 12 and a half. Should I be worried? or just wait and it will eventually happen.

It does sound like your medical problems, and their associated treatments will delay/stop puberty from happening.Check with your Dr at your next checkup. Let him know your concerns, and I'm sure they'll be able to let you know.

So maybe I might not go through puberty?

It's doubtful, since anything that would stop puberty is pretty extreme, and is generally a much larger worry than missing puberty itself. If it was something that serious, I would be that the Dr would have told you about that as soon as you were old enough to understand. But then, I'm not a Dr, so I'll have to leave the real advice to those who are.

is it even possible to /not/ go trough puberty?13 and a half isnt that late, i guess, i started when i was 14 and a half... u have nothing to worry about yet i think

medicinal steriods in very low dosesVery low doses of steroids (prednisone, etc.) shouldn't interfere with puberty. 13 1/2 is not outside the normal range. But for your own peace of mind, you might want to discuss it with your doctor (I assume you see him regularly).

I see him every 2 months. Been going to him for 10 years. I still find talking about this with anyone other than my cousin who I have already talked to is weird for me. Even my older brother. I guess it will come soon enough.

Some folks are late bloomers. I'm gay and when I was young, the kid I fooled around with was 8, I was 10. He had a 1 1/2 inch dick hard and no pubic hair or nothing until he was almost 16. Yes we fooled around with each other that long. So you see everyone's puberty fuse is different. No to worry, you'll get there.

It's natural to think your parts are not developing like everyone else's. And it may be that some of the medication you are taking is delaying puberty. Don't be afraid to talk to your doctor about it. Tell him that you've been noticing that you're not developing like the rest of your friends. More than likely he'll explain to you that even if you took a group of guys your age who are not on medication you would find some entered puberty early and some late. There's no date on the calendar when it happens. Every one is different and I'm sure that the earliest one was just as concerned about being different as the latest one. Your time will come, I'm sure, but you'll be well advised to talk to your doctor (especially if you've know him for 10 years) and let your fears be calmed!Keep in touch.
