I am only 14 (nearly 15) - and let me make it clear - I'm not going to have sex. This is just a general question. We've been taught in school, Condoms protect you from STDs and Pregnancy. How on earth to you get pregnant without catching STDs? Serious - This has been bugging me, but I've been 'afraid to ask' any one.ThanksJag

How?

What are you talking about? If you get pregnant your going to have a child, if you get an std then you have hiv, aids or some other disease. you can get one with out the other.
-
Condom protects from both (Well, as much as it can :P), but if you didnt use any contriception (or how ever u spell it), and you wanted a child - how would you avoid the STDs?

Every time you have unprotected sex, you risk pregnancy. Every time you have unprotected sex _edit:_ with an infected person), you also risk catching an STD. So, from any given encounter, you can get neither, one, or both.
Keep in mind that if you have sex with someone who is infected, you won't necessarily become infected...if you're lucky. If you have sex with someone who's not infected, you have nothing to worry about. The problem is that it's not always easy to tell if someone you don't know well is infected. Hopefully you won't have a child with someone you don't know well.
_Edit:_

You would have sex with someone who _is not_ infected with an STD. -
Are you asking, how one who was using a condom, and got pregnant using the condom, didn't also get an STD if the person was infected? Sort of like, if the semen could get through the permeable membrane of the condom, why couldn't the STD?

I think Steve's edit has caught the issue. As I read it, Jaguar's teachers have so impressed him with the dangers of unprotected sex, that he thinks having it inevitably gives you STDs.
