As a very young child I had cold sores near my mouth. To my recollection, I haven't had any cold sores in several years. The other day, I had a breakout of pimples on my chin. One of these spots, though, is near the corner of my mouth, and I'm wondering if it is a cold sore or a pimple (like the other ones on my chin). Also, given the fact that I haven't had any cold sores in my recent memory (assuming that the possible "cold sore" I currently have is just a pimple crosses fingers), I'm wondering how likely I am to spread herpes/cold sores to others through kissing/oral sex. I know that cold sores can be spread to a partner's genitals through oral sex, but I'm wondering if this is still possible if I haven't had a cold sore in a very long time. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Cold sore or pimple?/how long do herpes spread?

Chances are its a pimple because it appeared around the same time as the pimples on your chin.but you should prolly wait a few days and see what happens.Cold sores tend to be kind of dry and scab like, but if the appearance is similar to the pimples on your chin then your prolly okay. Your more likely to spread herpes/cold sores to other people when a sore is visible on the skin. But there is still a small chance you could spread it to others when there is no visible sore but that really all depends on the incubation periods of the virus etc. For more info chesk under the sexually transmitted diseases section of this website.
