I'm not sure if this is the right forum for my question, but here goes. I want to have kids some day, but I don't want to physically have them. The pain scares me, the birthing gexperience is gross, and I don't like the way my body might change. Anyway, there's a LONG way for me to go before I have a child. Again, I'm just wondering if I'm alone in this.

Having a baby?

Every woman i have known has been scared of the pain of childbirth, and yes it hurts like nothing else, but, the second that baby is deliver, its gone, forgotten, if it was that bad people wouldn't have more than one child. Honestly its nothing like you think it would be, and far better than you could ever imagine.

It still doesn't seem doable. Wouldn't it be nice if people could pray and the stork would bring them their baby? Good times, good times.

Oh no, cause then I'd probably be lucky enough to get the retarded elephant with the massive ears.

Hey, don't diss dumbo! He's adorable, the best of the lot! I'm scared of going through the birthing process too, but the way I figure, it's a few hours of pain, and then a lifetime of happiness (cheesey sounding I know) Of course, to try and avoid the pain you could opt for a cesarian (sp) section. and if you don't want your body to change there's always adoption. remember though, you're gonna get older and your body will change anyway. At least this way you get something good out of it!

I've had 3 ceasarean sections hon and they are anything but painless
-
Totally agree Angel! I hate when people think c-sections are painless. I have had two and I can tell you they are not painless. Why would the docs prescribe pain medication to the mother afterwards if it were pain free? What makes it even worse, is you cannot take the pain meds because you are up several times a night to feed the baby. (The pain meds make you sleepy)

In my mom's case, it was because I was to large to fit through the ordinary exit...at least, that's what the doctors thought way back then. That experience convinced my mom that one child was plenty.

In my case, i had a section with my first because i had had trouble with pre-eclampsia and they had induced me, he got into distress, and after 10 hours of labour they decided to take him out, knocked me out and did the section. With the other two, i had a choice of going through labour and then a section or just a section, so i opted for a section, and the last two i had I was awake for too, SOOOO wierd feeling people tugging and pushin on your insides LOL And i had students up in the gallery that i apparently waved at a lot in my drugged state

In my case, with my first son, my cervix would not dilate to 10. I dilated to 6 and stayed that way for eight hours. They finally said enough and gave me a c-section. With my second, the doctor did not want to risk it. Women who try to give birth vaginally after previously having a cesarean, can rupture thier uterus. Also, my second son was born with breathing problems, (he could not keep his oxygen up) the docs say were caused from the cesarean. I would rather deliver vaginally anyday...it is much safer for the baby and the mother.

ouch. Well I didn't know that, never had one. I assumed it would have the same after pain as other operations, but I've never given birth naturally either, so I wouldn't know how they compare.
