Suppose you were giving your boyfriend/husband/friends with benefits a blow job (assuming you're either gay or a girl) and it's your first time for you and him. He's been your friend for over a year and you've always had sexual encounters before this, but never a blowjob. He tells you that he's been tested and he's clean because his parents are paranoid - and you believe him because he's not got a reputation as a liar - and you believe him. If in the process of..you know..you get some precum on the roof of your mouth, and eventually you swallow it - do you think it's likely to get any sexually transmitted diseases? Figure if he's lying - it was half a drop of pre cum - what are the chances of getting infected?HYPOTHETICALLY OF COURSE

Hypothetical Situation

wow......Well this doesnt sound veyr hypothetical - it sounds like somone is worried lol. But I dont think if it was that small a quanitity that it would make a difference. And if he sad he was clean - and his parents are as you descrbe- I wouldnt worry about it.

Just get tested, doesn't hurt

oral sex is less likely to transmit some STI's than vaginal or anal sex. However there is always risk when any body fluid is present whether it's semen, blood or whatever. And the risk increases if the recipient of the fluid has open wounds or sores (even a scratch from playing with their cat will do it). So, if you are going to give a blow job, get your cavities, cold sores and the like looked after first to reduce the risk. Then if you still don't feel good about it, use a condom (or if you can find one a dental dam - but I've not seen much about them for years) in the flavour of your choice so you can pleasure him and enjoy the taste at the same time.As for swallowing, usually the stomach acids will kill just about anything so as long as you don't have ulcers, cat scratches in your esophogus or other problems internally, thus it is probably safer to swallow quickly rather than swish it around for a while. And if you took all the precautions and still are worried, get tested...

Heh - thanks Chuck. It was a hypothetical questions BTW. I'm going to add on here - Is it possible to transmit the cold or pnemonia thru oral sex? Possibly thru semen?
-
Sorry. I worded that as a personal type response but I did know you posed it as a hypothetical question.
As for colds, I have caught more colds from merely getting close to someone than from oral sex so I would assume if you are close enough to give oral sex, you are close enough to catch their cold. Same goes for the flu bugs that fly around but I am not sure about the mechanics for transmission of pneumonia. -
Considering that those viruses live in the respiratory tract, it would be pretty difficult. Maybe if a guy received oral sex, and then touched his penis and his eye? As Chuck said, it's much more likely that you catch it some other way.
It seems far fetched that you would catch a cold or flu just from giving oral sex. Those viruses don't live in the semen. I'd be far more concerned about hepatitis (mainly, hepatitis B).

Awesome - Thanks for answering my, uh, "hypothetical" question Great responses, I appreciate it a lot.
