You're absolutely right Bob. Interpreting Scripture through the lenses of our political persuasion is flat out wrong. Jesus was neither conservative or liberal. He was just right. And if what he did was more in line with a "liberal" principle then a "conservative" principle, then the former is more right then the second. I think if either side reads the Bible honestly and open-mindedly, and put what they read into action, they would both have to make some changes in their beliefs and actions.Yep...you're right.

The republicans had the VERY SAME LANGUAGE for end of life counseling in a Medicare bill several years earlier. There's nothing to be concerned with being informed of options. The fact that doctors and hospitals actually DO LESS THAN EXTREME INTERVENTION for the old and infirm has nothing to do with any bill presented by any Democrat or Republican. You did and do know what lies I'm talking about.I certainly do think it's the republicans that want EVERYTHING, but pay for nothing."Those are MY taxes you are using", yet they want to do without nothing those taxes pay for.I know nothing of any lies told in order to pass the health care bill.I'm as reasonable as you are and always have been. And, as usual, you engaged me and then pout that you are wasting your time with me.Boo Hoo! It wouldn't hurt for all of us to stop responding to each other in such snarky, you vs. me tones, and start trying to understand the underlying concernsThat being said...Are you willing to talk about the amazing lies that the Democrats threw out in order to get the bill passed? Quote:The 'truly up to's' are the selfish ME ME ME ME's of the right wing, where they actually want everything, but pay for nothing, among other things.Wait wait wait! You're actually suggesting it's the Republicans who want people to have services and privileges and such without paying for them? You think it's selfish to say we can't afford this? This is one of the most blind statements I've seen in a long while. Quote:Now, go play ignorant again and ask more silly questions. Well, you obviously aren't interested in being reasonable or intelligent about this, so I'm probably wasting my time with you.

I wish I had something of value to add to this conversation but I think I've stated and restated my views so many times the redundancy is depleting my brain.
I will say the tea party folks seem to be right of the right and more intolerant of moderation even by those in their own party. It's nothing unique to them the same can be said of the hard greens, and the like, on the left, I just don't believe they are quite as visual or as popular.
It is a shame that extremism has taken such an invasive hold on the political system because I believe it's extremely detrimental. While it should be expected that any party is going to move further from the center when it becomes the minority the idea that either would move so far as to become stalwart obstructionist only serves to cripple the system and frustrate and push moderates out. Further, by moving so far to the extreme the parties set themselves up for failure when they do regain power. No party can successfully govern from such an extreme.
The real harm is that while Glen Beck is drawing circles on a chalk board and Hummer's being blown up makes the news and is the topic de jour, important legislation, both big and small, moves on through without much, if any, public awareness.
My personal view is that the "fatcats and crumbbums" get what they want while the extremist are screaming at each other over intractable, irrational and, for the most part, unrealistic shit. "Shit" being the operative word.
For my own part there is no party that would want me. For as "liberal" as my views are on personal rights my position on niche rights such as gun rights, the environment and pro-business stance keep me greatly at odds with most Democrats. The Republicans forget it. They wouldn't have me for my views on the separation of church and state, anti big-business and anti militaristic positions. The result there is no real choice for a moderate. Do I vote for a man who professes to want to kill the industry from which I make my living or do I vote for someone who wants to be able to spy on me and make my kids pray all the time.
The only purpose wedge issues serve is to inflame the extreme and push out any voices of reason (reason as in moderation).
Guess I did have something to add at least for myself doubt it does anything for the discussion.

This is the only time I've responded to you...ever. But yeah...I have a loooong history of engaging you.If by engaging you, you mean I asked you a couple questions to clarify what you were saying, then yeah...that's how real discussions happen. Anyway, I'm not boo-hooing. I'm laughing.Care to back up, start again, and have a reasonable discussion? I'd be more than happy to.
