So my friend claims he is fat, but he only has small love handles, and a small pot belly, but he can't be considered "fat" more of a skinny fat.So he is putting himself on a water only diet with like a small snack every 3 hours or something, in order to completely lose a ton of his belly fat.Is this safe/effective?

the most effective thing is to drink a LOT of water and go for walks and eat healthy. ive been doing this since may, and ive lost a bunch of weight. he can do some sit ups as well to tone up his belly

one more thing, you cant really lose weight in a specific area. usually where you want to lose weight the most, it takes the longest. =/
for me, i lost the weight around my boobs and my hips. which is good cuz my boobs were just too freaking big. lol

i was falling out of my bras pretty much. but now they fit verrrry nice :wink:
its awesome cuz now i dont have to push them back in my bra when im out in public. LOL

No. I wouldn't recommend it.Exersize is key.. and eatting the right foods. Tell him to join a gym.. most gyms will help you out with a meal plan

As Rad said if you restrict your diet that severely you'll start breaking down muscle mass over fat. Muscle mass is quicker and easier to break down, and if you're starving yourself that severely your body is going to need that energy now.This does not only refer to leg and arm muscles, etc, if he keeps it up he will start breaking down vital organs to feed his body, like the heart muscle. I don't think I need to tell how ugly that can get.Edit: The worst part is he'll think it's working because he'll shed a ton of weight (he won't look any skinnier), then a few weeks/months down the track when it becomes impossible to maintain he'll return to his original diet. Because his body is still in "starvation mode" it will tell him to eat more and pack away the energy (as fat) as fast as it can incase another similar scenario occurs in the future, ultimately causing him to gain far more weight than he originally had.

He says that he is biking a lot and not driving cause of gas prices and he wants to know if this is good.But also he is still only drinking water, and having some snacks.What if I were to get him to drink smoothies instead? I have a recipe that includes, Orange juicefrozen strawberriesbananas and a little honey.Would this be any better???

see, that is good for him yes.
but he cant live off a water only diet for the rest of his life. he'll slowly start going back to his bad habits. and he'll gain his weight back. he needs to not think of it as a diet, but a lifestyle change really. if he eats what he wants, just in smaller portions, drink tons of water each day, and walk/bike every day. the pounds will melt off fast and naturally.
for me, it was hard starting at first. but now i eat waaay less. and i walk everyday. and i notice a HUUGE difference. -
there is a way to get rid of that body fat. Drink water with parasyites it wont kill you just diareha for the first few days and then after that 2 nice healthy looking bm's everyday.Trust me

Cycling is good of course, but probably worse if he's on a water diet. It just means he's expending his energy quicker.Smoothies will definitely help, but it's still not enough.Even if he were to drink enough smoothies to get his daily energy requirements, he's still not getting enough vitamins and minerals from such a restricted diet. If starvation doesn't stop him, a deficiency from one of the essential vitamins or minerals will.

I've started trying to cut down on the crappy food abit more to loose the bit of weight I've gained back over the winter. I know that once they start spilling out of a DD cup it's time to loose afew kgs again. That and I'd be totally bumbed out if I gained back what I'd previously worked really hard to loose.

before my diet i used to bulge out of my DD bra. now they fit perfectly. and now i dont have to be in public pushing my tits back in. LOL.its quite the awkward secnario.
