SO folks it has been awhile since I have been on here and I need a bit of advice. I am working as a Project Coordinator/Manager at a high tech company in Silicon Valley, always at the forefront. Well in my year being there I have developed a serious interest in the environment and green ways. I have always had that feeling that there was something I was meant to do and that it would be something big. Well I have one weakness and that is getting the ideas in my head, out. Does anyone have any advice? As far as developing them on a techincal level I am going to school for a BS in Elec. Engineering. As far as being able to present my ideas I can already speak in front of crowds as I already give speaches to my company.Hope you are all doing well and are having a great new year.-Walken

Ideas in mind?

My one piece of advice is to never dismiss an idea. Write it down, draw, leave some record of it. It may not work in your current situation or with current technology, but it may be the key to a problem later. For example, years ago I was doodling on a piece of paper and I came up with this way of using a simple lever to make a horizontal plate go up and down without anything underneath it. I didn't think much of it at the time but I stored it anyway (my dad's a photographer so I was taught to never discard an idea, my bedroom is full of boxes of his old negatives). Then, some time last year, my dad was standing up on top of our bin trying to compact it all down to fit more in it (a very hard job for him as he had his kneecap replaced by a metal joint.) In Ireland, the government provide you with 3 bins for general waste, recycling and compost, and they are all the exact same. Out of breath, my dad was talking and he said how it would be great to come up with a way to do the same job without the risk of breaking his neck. And thats where the random design that I came up with before has now saved time, effort and money.

Hey Jon,Welcome back buddy! Sure have missed you. I'm glad youre doing so much better now. The last year was kind of rough.Does the company you work for promote "green" perhaps you can give a pitch to them about how they can be greener. how big of a carbon footprint are they leaving?Contact http://www.algore.com/ and see if they can direct you in the direction you need to go....Going Green is the hottest topic and field right now..Good luck buddy. It's nice to have you back too...:o)

Thanks for the advice but Bob had more of the idea. My company is green but I am thinking a much larger scale. I have ideas for companies and methods to reform our society to be more green. Even if they do not come true I would like them out of my head.
