Hey everyone, I'm sure there's been a million of these threads, but I hope you don't mind one more I'm 19 and I've never really been to satisfied about how I look. I have a great metabolism, and I'm used to eating as much garbage as I want, and staying pretty thin. Of course, I know this is all going to catch up with me as I get older, so I'm trying to adjust now, as well as get in shape.I've never been a big fan of going to gyms. Its partly because I'm self conscience and partly because I don't know a good routine to do.I've been doing a spinning class for the last 4 months now (little over a full college semester and climbing) and it's quite the cardo workout. That's twice a week, for an hour. I'm looking for something to fill the days off with, that's more muscle building. Just this week I'm starting something I haphazardly threw together, that is 5x10 burpees, 2x25 sit-ups, and I threw in some extra pushups for fun. The objective is workouts that don't require anything else (no weights, or equipment) and focus more on muscle development than cardio (although they'll still get my heart pumping).Obviously nutrition is an important part of it, which I'm still trying to work out how to manage that (I made a thread months ago about trying to eat healthy in college, not working too well so far).So what are your thoughts, suggestions, etc. All ideas are certainly appreciated!

Well, if you don't want anything extra, per se, you could do fly-ish type things with cans of beans/veggies or things like that...if you have them around....hmmm....what else....i'll see what I can come up with!

Man up and do weights. Everyone has to start somewhere.Seriously. You're wasting your time with push ups and sit ups.

Maybe he has no access to any since he is too self-concious to go to the gym. If that is the case, I agree with LuvMyCats - tins of things should be good.
Also have a look at this website. About halfway down the page, they suggest exercises without weights.
Good luck!

For the amount of time and effort put in he will see very minimal gains, if any.
It will be a frustrating pointless routine that'll only put him off.
To the OP, no one cares how you look at the gym. Really. Only you (any many, many others out there, including me at once stage of my life) think they care.

try to take a college Wight class. I did and it helped me learn a lot. To gain muscle you have to work them and eat . Before taking that class i did sit ups, push ups, and pull ups. Then my brother (he works at a gym) got me going, but I got a lot of my muscle gain during and after the class. Between my brother’s help and the class's coach i picked up a lot of muscle. Before I was out of the class I benched 300 pounds and weighed around 180 pounds up and down. ... My Wight goes up and down because of health shit. Example, I got up to 190 during Christmas and now when I weighed the other day I was 177pounds. I have never hit 190 before this Christmas. I usually stay in the 175 - 185 range. I wish the class would have thought me how to maintain my size. I can put on the gains but I can’t keep it… I’ve dropped way down below what I want and now I got to put it back on. I dk if it’s Wight I have dropped or muscle I’ve lost. I hope it’s more of just Wight not muscle but I dk… I haven’t done a fat % since last summer. Really all it will tell me is I have so much body fat %. I was afraid of the gym too.. But my need to kick my older brothers ass outweighed the fear of people staring at me…. At first I was worried about who’s watching me but it’s passed now. Now the problems I’m sometimes running into is not having a spotter when I need one, shaking on my dead lifts, and maintaining my size. I don’t do cardo workouts…. I take that back, I swim for hours out of enjoyment not a workout but it is a work out.. lol But yea.. mainly all weights and lifting. I work a part of my body a day. 1 day for like 45 mins. And really the time goes by fast. I work my biceps one day, next day legs, next day chest.. And so on.. With a 2 day rest. (working out 5 days out of 7 day week). I’m no pro at it and like I said I have my bumps to get over too… I’m just saying what helped me. I don’t think your going to get any muscle development with out weights.
