There's this girl that I really like. I like her more than I've liked anyone before. I can't stop thinking about her. She's just seems to be too perfect for me. I'm kind of a geek, and so is she. We're interested in similar things. But there's a problem. There's an age difference. I don't know if this age difference is huge to most people, so I'll ask what you guys think. I'm senior, but kind of a young senior. I was born late in the year, so I'm 17. She is only in 8th grade, but was born early in the year. She's 14. All together we're 3 years and 4 months apart. I don't know if it's wrong for me to be attracted to her? But I do think that she's a little bit mature for her age, and that I look a little younger than my actual age. Anyway, I'm constantly thinking about her, and wondering if she likes me too. Sometimes the signs that she likes me seem to be obvious, but maybe I'm imagining things. We tease eachother all the time, and I see it as flirting. And there seem to be a lot of "accidental" touches when we're around eachother. But she's always on my mind, and I don't really want her to be constantly on my mind. I'm always reminding myself that she's too young, and that if I ever to have a chance to get together with her it probably won't be for a few years after she's 18. So sometimes I try to ignore her, to try and force myself to get over her or something. It never works. so, that's my situation. I just want to know what you think about it all. Do you think that my feelings are wrong? And what you think that I should do.

Can't stop thinking about this girl

My Suggestion is to talk to her about it. You are more mentally and physically mature than her. You need to tell her that until she is a bit older, you guys can't be together besides as friends. It might be hard for her to understand, but I guarantee it will help cause less hardship in the future. With you probably going to college next year you would probably have to break up with her anyway (assuming you were dating) I just think it's a better idea to wait until she's more mentally and physically mature. But, don't take my word for it! 3 years isn't that much of an age difference.

I know people say age doesnt matter.. but Id put that idea in cases only where both people are adults. Unfortunately both of you are minors and it may not be seen as "acceptable".I started dating my boyfriend right before i turned 19 and he turned 22. Thats okay. Both your parents may have a problem with it.. and that is a problem. I would talk to her about it and see what the deal is.. but just warning you that it may not be acceptable in some peoples eyes and if things get physical.. i believe you can get in big shit (??? not completely sure because ur under 18.. anyone know??)

Ya once you turn 18 any sexual activities with a minor is statutory rape.

to answer a previous question, I'm 17. Also, one of the posts made it sound like we're dating. We're not. I'm not even completely sure that she even likes me. I said that it seems like she gives a lot of signs that she does like me, but I don't know. So approaching her and talking about it would just be weird, and could freak her out.

I agree with Steph in saying that age doesn't matter, but with adults. Personally I think that for teens and kids 3 years is a bit much. However, that part is just my opinion. What I'm basing this on is that when I was in 8th grade, I remember one of my friends siblings was a senior and I thought that he was old and huge (now that I'm the age he was, they look young and tiny ), so I can't imagine that kind of relationship in my head. But, like I said, that's just me.

so, I should wait until she's 18 until I act on my feelings, or make any kind of move.

preferably when shes 18

Once you turn 18, you can be with whoever you want, as long as they aren't a day under 18. I mean, of course I don't think that a 30 year old should be dating a 12 year old or something, but it's kind of ridiculous that it'd be illegal for a 19 year old to have any kind of sexual relationship with a 17 year old, I think.

I mean "by the book" its illegal. I'm sure lots of 19 and 17 year olds have had sex before. It's only illegal if you get caught in the act by a cop.
But for some reason its legal for two, let's say, 14 year olds to have sex. Does that make sense? haha

or a parent or disapproving adult.

18 isn't a blanket set in stone rule. Some states take into account what your talking about. Of the few who do make some consideration I think the law is more like the age of consent is 16 to a partner that is no older than 19. It verys state to state but I think 16 is pretty much the wall for consent of any kind. Then again, I may not know what the fuck I'm talking about.
