It may be that they feel the same way and just don't want to think about it. Sometimes when people are apprehensive about change the best way they find to deal with it is to ignore it or put off dealing with it.

This is very true.Don't be hesitant to express your emotions. Hug them and cry until they get so sick of it, they start crying!

Haha there are only few friends I can do that to. The others would slap me across the face and be like "GET OVER IT!" haha... it's happened before. When I got my SAT scores the first time in 11th grade. Think I had a mental breakdown. All I kept hearing was "9 babies and ya on welfare!"... over dramatic? welcome to my family.

I was scared to death of going to college. I didn’t last through the first semester either. But after Jan. when I came back I was a basket case for a little but then I realized it’s nothing like high school was. paranoia was my problem. Once I realized everyone that looked at me wasn’t going to attack me I was ok. Had no problems moving up to University. In a few years I’ll be graduating University and getting married.

See, we don't get the whole leaving for college thing here in Ireland, probably because our entire country is roughly the size of Indiana. There isn't anywhere in Ireland that you can go that you can't get home within 5 hours so if you go to college on the other side of the country, you can still go home every weekend. Where are you going to college by the way?

Yea so I guess it's much easier there. =/
I'm going to Brandeis University in Massachusetts.

As well as the fact of physically leaving, a sort of practice run for the day you leave for good, it's also a big step up and out of the cocoon of school. So of course it's something to get emotional over.

Leaving for college is tough for some people. I know some who were very emotional about it and others who weren't. I was nervous the entire summer leading up to leaving but when the day came that I actually had to leave I was more excited than anything. Have you got your roomate info yet? If you have and have not contacted her yet than go ahead. You'll feel better if you feel like you know somebody. On another note. I go to school here in new hampshire and my first roomate was from long island. She Could be home in 5-6 hours if she needed to be. Depending on where in Mass you'll be you could make it home in about the same time. Look up bus routes so you know a quick way to get home if you need a weekend away.
