Perhaps you could point it out and we could discuss? Did Lot not offer his daughter's to the citizens of Sodom to use as they wished? For that matter, did Lot's daughters not sleep with their father in order to bear children? You're taking the whole thing out of context. Let me tell you what happened...since you don't seem all that interested in finding it out for yourself. Some strangers/visiters were staying with Lot at the time. Now, for a Christian, visiters are special...they are to be treated as Christ himself. There are passages to support this...that you can find for yourself if you care to. Some of the men from the town (Sodom) came to Lots house and demanded to have the visitors for purposes of...well, you should know by now if you've been following this thread. If not...sex with Lot's male visiters it what they had in mind. So Lot found himself in a predicament and was being forced to choose between the lesser of two evils. And the customs, being what they were at the time, if any of the townsfolk "deflowered" his daughters they would have to marry them. All things considered, Lot offered up his daughters in place of his male visiters. Perhaps now you can understand why, and that your presumption about offering up your daughters to strangers is taken way out of context. BTW, all of the above is found in the Bible. Much from the Bible is taken way out of context.Much in the Bible is ignored when convenient and stressed when convenient. The offering of your daughter for the night will be one ignored, I hope, and I hope the sleeping with them, but you don't hesitate to stress the presumed sin of homosexuality that you like to read into that story, which many Biblical scholars state had nothing to do with male/male sex anyway. I took nothing out of context and ignored nothing. It's highly unlikely that a group of men is going to knock on my door and demand to have gay sex with my male guests and threaten me if I refuse...asumming I have any male guests at the time. If it ever did happen, I have an option Lot did not. I'll put a 9mm in their faces...as I believe in protecting my own. I'm quite certain Lot would have done something similar if he had had that option. If you decide to accept Christ and the Bible, you need ignore nothing. That's what YOU say. What makes YOU sole source authority on this matter?Nothing. But when I've got to explain to you one of the more basic and well-known stories of the Bible after you've buggered it all up (intentionally or not), you'll have to forgive me if I'm not very interested in accepting your interpretations over mine. Disagree? Fine...disagree all night and day, if you like.

Quote:Yet you do nothing to stop them and make your voice heard. Why? Who is to say I haven't done anything? Also keep in mind I am not a die hard activist either. I have been asked by several different organizations to be part of their activist team and even be a speaker at events, but I have turned them down. Not because I don’t believe in the cause (obviously I do), but lets be honest I can get TOO passionate. There comes a point where too much passion can hurt a cause. But I still donate money and support where/when I can. Trust me though, once the fight hits in my home town... and it will eventually… I will be on the front line. Now with that said.. I still proved to you in another thread that we did at one time fight for Civil Unions and were rejected. So, now you can let that go. Again, if conservatives (and some liberals) weren't selfish and allowed Civil Unions we might not be having this debate today.

Men were not built to give birth... but you should! All of you should take on the labor and pain of ovulating, menopause, and push a human being out of your vajayjay!Sorry... random thoughI was sitting through a lecture about Gender and Sexuality and we were discussing when people are born with both a penis and vagina and the doctors rudely take it upon themselves to make the decision to remove either one. Which eventually leads to massive confusion when the child becomes an adult with estrogen but a penis or testosterone but a vagina... shouldn't that be illegal? Are they allowed to totally mess up someone's life like that?

Why wish something bad on somebody else just because of their gender? Anyway, most women who've had both babies and kidney stones say the kidney stones are worse. I've had six...call me when you've had six of either.

Actually I was kidding...Crazy that you're comparing child birth to kidney stones. At least with kidney stones you can take medicine to dissolve them... I don't think you can dissolve a baby...

I don't know if they can make gender assignment illegal but there is much discussion about it being unethical. It seems to make more sense in the long run to let someone make that decision for his/her self. Yes, there will be some stigma during childhood but that's only a fraction of a human's entire life.

You seem to let the media brainwash you more than you know.Either way, as it's been stated, it's a waste of time now, and I'm done.deek: It was an interesting discussion when it started, but it turned into the same thing, like it always does, and wandered away from topic.

I have had to pass most of mine. The ones I couldn't had to be blasted by a process known as lithotripsey. I haven't had one dissolved yet.

Now there's a liberal attitude for you. Wait until the child is so messed up and confused about who he/she/it is so you can foist the responsibility of making a decision off onto them. No...a decision needs to be made early on BEFORE all the confusion sets in. I think it should be the parents decision...not the doctors AND CERTAINLY NOT THE GOVERNMENT! Kids lives are tough enough as it is these days without folks trying to foist off their responsibilities as parents onto them and then finding a way to call it a good thing.

So, you should assign the child a gender instead of waiting to see which gender it actually aligns with? There have been many cases where this has been done and later found out that their little girl should have really been a boy, or the other way around. Yes it might be a bit traumatic for a child to know they are different, but how much worse would it be being raised as a girl to realize you should have been a boy and your parents had your penis removed?
I just think in the best interest of the child its best to wait before making such an important, life changing, decision.
Like a year ago NBC (I think) had a special about this topic, and how the doctors talked the parents into female gender assignment because it was the easier of the surgeries. It was sad to see how that decision really made some of these children's lives miserable.

That's the parents fault for deferring their responsibilities to the doctor. The doctor and government are NOT the ones responsible for bringing a new life into the world...the parents are. They need to make the decision...and make it wisely.Suppose they decide on male and the child eventually moves in that direction physically...but not after suffering years of trauma that leave permanent scars on the psyche? So, you see, an argument of that type can be made in either direction. I think with modern techniques, most of the kind of mistakes you refer to can be avoided...that same cannot be said of the phsychological trauma of being "neuter" during your childhood.

you're so predictable.yes, enforce your choice and your will. god likes it like that

Wow, now we're on gender assignment? Right on track guys.
Bang up job, really. You butcher well. Might I say y'all do a MIGHTY good job of blending posts, too. Dragging in the gay thing [from like 3 months ago!...."06/01/09"], then the uni. health thing, then the socialism thing...Make up your minds...
