I read some threads on the fleshlight forum and a lot of users complain about their FLs developing weird glue like dark spots and they don't know what it is and they also contacted the company and they didn't think it's their fault. I'm beginning to ask myself if getting a FL is really worth it. Spending all this money for a few uses and then after some weeks or months you can already throw it away because of weird growths on the tissue then it's not worth it.Maybe the material sucks or has weaknesses. Some report having a FL for years and it still looks great and others have relatively new ones and already have problems. What would also piss me off is having to go through the cleaning and drying routine like a ceremony and then in the end it still starts to decay. It's not just the money but also the time which you sacrifice for cleaning and drying it. I guess once the FL starts to develope any spots which could be mold you can throw it away.

I would imagine those few didn't clean it properly or used the wrong materials on it. I know the website says not to use oils on it, or it'll decay the material. Maybe there's something that makes it gooey?

I don't know but to me it seems like it's really complicated to keep it intact. Maybe the material simply sucks or isn't always of the same quality and that's why some last and others dont and one thing is sure if you somehow have quality concerns then you can't simply refund it like you refund a TV. I dont think they are willing to take an insert back which has already been used...

No, they won't, for understandable reasons.
But check their FAQ pages for info on all of this. The link is at the bottom of their sites for the FAQ. It does address all of your concerns about the quality and maintenance. And those nasty black spots.
