Its possible, but when the doctor commented on the results in the message for to type specific test she said both were negative. I'm relying on her comments because I don't quite understand how to read the results yet. I've had chicken pox before, but I don't think that's the same strand of HSV. I do think that I read somewhere that the general test for herpes I took before the type specific one, that the general ones tests for all types of the herpes virus. I need to get a copy of the results and sit down and talk with another doctor. I'm still confused. Plus, I want to get tested again later on to see if the results will be more clear, well clearly negative.

Possible Genital Herpes, Oh God!
-
Chicken pox is caused by the varicella zoster virus, which is closely related to but different from HSV1 and HSV2. It is scientifically considered a herpes virus, but not in common language. I suppose it depends how wide-ranging that general test was.
-
My boyfriend got tested last week. He's postitive for type 1, but nefative for type 2. Why wasnt my test so clear cut. The general test said I had one of the strands, then the second test said I was negative for both. My doctor was terrible confusing with the comments she left online and when I asked her about it she got even more confusing.
I think I should get a hard copy of my results and take them to a doctor that can explain things better to me. All this sucks, for me. :frowning:

What's so bad about genital herpes? Does this mean you'll get any visible outbreaks on your genitalia or is it all about the possible cancer risk?I also think condoms don't protect against herpes afair.
-
Condoms only protect the skin they are covering, so they cover some herpes sores but not all of them. (It is the same for genital warts.) So they are much better than nothing, but still only partial protection.I don't know about a cancer risk. It is some strains of human papilloma virus (HPV) that can cause cancer, not HSV. HSV does seem to be more common in cervical cancer patients than a control group, and it is hypothesised that HPV + HSV is more dangerous than HPV alone, but it may just be that they tend to be spread together as they have similar infection mechanisms.
-
Do today not many people have HPV even without having gone down on somebody or had sex? Or are virgins clean?
-
You can transmit genital warts (which are HPV) just by skin contact without any penetration, so it's certainly possible to have HPV and be at least a technical virgin.
-
Well the visible sores aren't pretty and it's something ugly that other people don't want that's contagious.
-
We've had oral sex again.... How can I convince him about condoms for the both of us? I feel so ridiculous. I don't know how to make it sound like I'm not being a crazy worrier.
-
Does HPV only show up on the genitals?Does this mean if someone for example a cashier has HPV and she touches her vagina and then touches products with I buy with her hands and then later on I touch the product and then touch my skin that the HPV is now transfered onto my skin?
-
Hmmm...I think that wouldn't work 'cause it would be exposed too long outside the body. Read the paragraphs in the link below http://www.hsvguide.com/Herpes_Transmission.htm
-
We need to be careful here not to get confused.
HSV = Herpes Simplex Virus, responsible for cold sores (mainly strain 1) and genital herpes (mainly strain 2).
HPV = Human Papilloma Virus, of which more than 120 strains are known. Different strains are responsible for ordinary warts, genital warts, certain cancers, and quite a few other things: see here.

Oops, my bad. i didn't even noticed which he/she wrote about. I just glanced over and assumed we were all still talking about HSV.
-
How do you get tested for HPV? Would you get a penis swab or something like that?
Just imagine you go to a urologist who touches your junk and before he examined someone else with HPV and didn't really desinfect his hands and then you automatically also have it. That's crazy. :open_mouth:

I'm not sure. My post was about herpes (HSV). HPV is something different as someone already stated.Doctors use gloves and besides I don't think it works like that for either of the viruses. You remind me of another person that posts (or used to post) on this site. They always had such strange responses/concerns sometimes.

If you get infected, a breakout is most likely within 7 days. (edited by readytogo-site not allowed) I suggest that you should go to see a doctor and test for herpes.
-
Counselor of a*(edited by readytogo-site not allowed)* said the chance is small for the HSV-1 to be passed to the genital area. However, the risk is still there. You did not get herpes by oral sex from him in the past does not mean you never get it by this way. You can be infected by the virus when your immune system is weak. Be sure to see your doctor if there is any symptoms at your genital area.

When I got Herpes, it was from someone who pretended to be my friend for three years. He knew he had it and he really didn't give a crap about if I got it or not. He flat out lied to me and told me he had had a clean std test. When I turned up with it a week later, he told me to go to the doctor and ask them for Valtrex and herpes treatment. "You will be fine." He told me.
Needless to say, I didn't have a lot of faith in humanity or men left after that happened to me. When I found this *(edited by readytogo-site not allowed)I was too scared to date or to seek out a relationship. I had told several people about my new found curse and had mixed reactions. This site gave me the confidence and understanding I needed to be happy.

I found a very interesting article on Herpes If you are looking for Herpes Treatments or std in general, I can recommend pharmacies like [Pharmacy2u. They both have an Online Doctor for questions and for writing a prescription. Wish you the best!

You are not alone even though you have herpes. Find others with herpes. (edited by readytogo-site not allowed) you may be upset and think your sexual life is over. However, once you settle down and learn the facts, you'll realize that having herpes is not the end of the world, and it's not the end of your social life.
