Would you push that red button?
-
u may not be able to argue with a female but take it from another males perspective then, Cenfath is completely right. You know that pushing the button means someone is goign to die whether u actually stabed them through the chest or not you are still in some what responsible for there death. Even if you could not be pushed by law (i'm not sure what the courts would say about that) its still on ur conscious and if it wasn't for you that person would not be dead.
-
dude if you push a fuckin button thats all youre fuckin doin. you're personally not killin someone. you may be an accomplice but you're not the actual killer. that's two different things, both crimes but both different! If you flat out kill the guy that made the box then its you doin the killin, and thats murder. Now I'm tired of arguin over this. Murder & accomplish to murder are seperate crimes. Think about it!
-
I wouldn't press the button.
-
That's right - powerlifter. AND if you pull the trigger - hell - the GUN is doing the killing - YOU'RE just pulling the trigger. Maybe you're an accomplice - but you're not the actual killer. What a load of you know what!!GREAT BIG HUGCraig!!
-
guns don't kill people, people do. Buttons don't kill people, people do So... you pressed the button. Say that Jonathan Sampson from Missouri died as a result, aged 26, leaving his wife and unborn child. You get $100 million, and off you go to buy a huge house and fast car. And you think "I wonder who died so I could get this stuff" and of course you'd slowly go mad over the years wondering who died, and finally you get a rare form of cancer and die. After you die, the devil tells you that Jonathan Sampson was who died for your earthly gains, and if he'd lived he'd have been personally responsible for creating a cure for your rare cancer.Ooops, your bad. So, still wanna press the button?

Powerlifter - Just because I'm female doesn't you can't argue and it doesn't mean you can't win. There have been times where I've been wrong and admitted I was wrong and other times where I think I'm right and I'm not going to back down. This just happens to be one of them. I wholeheartedly agree with Craig and the gun was PERFECT example. Now what Im thinking is that because you're not face to face with someone it's not murder. Here's a twist for you. Did you know that just because that guy made the button it doesn't make him guilty of murder? If he doesn't push it, it makes him an accessory before and after the fact AKA an accomplice. Since you're the one pushing the button and you KNOW it's going to kill someone it makes you the murderer. And that's exactly how police would look at it. Just because you didn't make the button and you don't know exactly how that person's going to die doesn't mean you're not guilty. You knowingly took it upon yourself to take someone's life with the push of a button and all for greed.Happyhappyjoyjoy - I love that scenario.
-
whatever, like i said earlier I'm tired of arguin. a gun and a button are totally opposite. but you keep on thinkin you're right. i dont care. we'll never know anyway seein how this is just a scenrio & obviously wont happen. enough of post wastin. no one seems to be open-minded here, so it's useless. i know i'm right. you "know" youre right. so its going nowhere...
-
So this guy is sentenced to capital punishment. He is strapped to the electric chair. The electrodes are attached. The executioner stands at the ready. He is told to proceed. The executioner presses a button.... which turns on the electricity and shocks the convict to death. Did the executioner not kill the convict through the press of a button?
-
I know its wrong, and I know that I'm suppose to say that "of course I would never push that button!" and be horrified that someone would say yes to that.
But realisticly- I would push that button. It might be bad karma, but right now that 100million would help me realize all my dreams right now. People live & die everyday. I'm sorry that someone had to die, but it would be the first time someone got stepped on in a person rise to wealth & power... -
"well what good what that do? you'd still be killin someone for the money. In fact you'd be flat out murderin that guy. Pushin the button at least you know "you're" not the one doing the killin..." -PowerlifterWell for one, I wouldnt be responsible for killing an innocent person, and two, I would have done away with the sick bastard thats paying innocent people to kill other innocent people. So I end up killing a person that's really harmful to society, and not being responsible for the death of someone else.
-
And while you're on a roll with doing the world a favor in killing the guy with the button you'll probably donate your 100 Million bucks to charity right?
-
IF I had pushed the button (and believe me you couldn't offer me enough money to do it) I would have given the money to a chartiy. Money like that *I* consider to be tainted. I wouldn't be able to live with myself. I would've given to organizations Make A Wish, a foundation for children from abusive home and environments. I'd rather put the money to good use rather than keep it for myself.

anyone who won't kill somebody for $100,000,000 has some kind of disorder
-
That's like someone that wont break into donald trumps house kill him and take his money has a disorder. The only difference is you don't know who is being done too. Its really sicken to here you say that we that won't kill people for money have a disorder, i think it may be the other way around buddy.

Your opinion is only one of many. I happen to not care about money. I've seen how people with money act and I've seen how people without money act. My family is pretty well off. We're not the richest people in the world, but I don't want for many things (besides my own family and children) and I never have. But my family was also born very poor. My grandparents built a company here where I live. They built it with their own two hands. That company grew and expanded and was eventually all over the state. So I guess you could say we came from the middle to lower part of the upper class (and there are subdivisions...believe me I know). As a result, I was born to priveledges not given to many people. I had the capability of going to all the right schools (or good schools), getting to know the "right" people, etc. etc. But I didn't. I went to an ordinary public school with limited means. I chose my own friends. I forged my own path. As I'm doing even now as I speak. I was the first grandchild that graduated high school and went on to college. I will probably be the first since I graduate next year. I've done it on my own. I took out student loans and filed for financial aid. And I'm going to school because I want to become a doctor.Money isn't everything. It doesn't make you a better person. It doesn't make you love your spouse more. It doesn't make you love YOURSELF more. It doesn't buy you EVERYTHING. It can't buy you TRUE happiness. It can't buy love, trust, hope, understanding, or compassion. It doesn't bring honor into a world that doesn't know the meaning anymore. It can't bring someone back from the dead (believe me, if it could I'd have brought my grandpa back by now). So what's it really worth or good for except to buy material possessions? Nothing. So to push a button to kill someone just to be rich isn't worth it in MY opinion.
-
good post cenfath. I do agree that money may give the chance for more things to occur to make you happy. Those that come from very poor families that always dream of having there own horse may never get that chance, while a rich person could have there dreams fullfiled. But that person with money isn't gaurenteed that happiness and may be spoiled in a way. Sometimes its harder for them to accept what they have. Anyone that gets a large sum of money at once lets say by pushing the button will probably be the happiest person in the world for a short period of time, they will live the ultimate materialistic life, but once you have everyone what's left? Did you focus all ur energy on buying stuff where you forgot to fall in love? Are you so messed up where you think that maybe everyone that likes u only does for your money? Do you get confused why you can't buy peoples love? Of course this isn't true in all cases, but it does seem to be something that happens (or should happen) to those that would kill for money.
-
who would have thought something so small as pushin a button could make everyone in here go mad
-
In reply to:I happen to not care about moneyIf you really didn't care about money then surely you wouldn't mind giving all your money away?
