It's been a bit of a struggle for me, but not anything I can't handle. It's entirely doable, and the feeling of being free is great! My proof: a year and a half of freedom thus far, and the temptation is pretty non-existant. Not that I don't have a sex drive, I'm still looking forward to being married, it's just that its a great feeling to be able to control your own body. I encourage you all to continue in your efforts of freedom!

No mastrubation vow makes the year go by slow....

rawr!

wow, good luck also my longest is probably 1-2 weeks but i wasnt trying to stop or anything i was just on vacation with friends and felt uncomfortable
-
F22fighter I don't think marrage has anything to do with your sex drive.
-
Marriage is when I get to give in to my sex drive. I'm not saying that's the sole purpose of marriage, because the relationship is even more important than the sex, but by my religion, that's when I'm allowed to give in and become one flesh with my wife. I was just saying that you can tame your sex drive until you're ready to use it for what it was meant for.

4 weeks!how a holding up focus ... almost slipped today that urge came and went really fast... ... ... several times ... ... in a row... ... heh this is funnyI told my friends that im gonna try to go as long as I can without masturbating and one of them was like..."nope... not gonna happen"the onther one gave me props for lasting 25 days
-
this is gonna be my last post untill I quit, that way this thread can stay dead =]

I'm still good! Just past 4 weeks. That would be one whole month
Still going strong! No wet dreams yet tho... :frowning: I'm going to keep abstaining until I get wet dreams. It will probably be another month or two before that happens. Well, Lent is coming up, so we can continue to abstain for that, although I wonder if it counts giving up something that you've started giving up on before Lent starts?
I must say I'm very proud of myself for making it this far. But I'm not past my record, which is 8 weeks. That was a while ago - my most recent record last year was 6 weeks. I hope to blow right past that.
-
Take up EverQuest 1 or 2. Trust me, it'll eat up 6 months in no time.

congrats oglethorpe and focus! I actually did this a couple of years ago with a buddy. I didn't think I could do 2 weeks (which was my previous record). Our goal was to just do 30, which we did. I was surprised how easy it was (once I got past 2 weeks). Then it was 60, 90, and 120. That's as far as I got. My friend actually crossed the 300 day mark!Crazy thing was, I never got a wet dream. My roommate started getting them after about 45 days, and got them every few weeks or so.It can be done and it gets easier as you go. The trick is to not only actively avoid any stimulation, but to not think about the desire to masturbate. I recently started the venture again and got some great advice: the trick is to learn to enjoy the erotic feelings and the sexual drive without associating it with the need or desire to masturbate.Good luck guys!(I just realized that tomorrow is Feb. 1 which is when I promised myself I would stop for good...)

Quiting entirely makes no sense to me. i think it will desexatise (doubt thats a word but u get my meaning) a person, and probly isnt good for you since masturbation relives stress.
Practicing abstenance for short periods is brilliant. You can use it as a weapon to give u more confidence and ka to get with some one. Plus when u go without an orgasim for a few weeks... the time u have sex is very explosive. -

That's just absurd. Desexatise? What in the name of Pete does that mean? Do you have any idea what it's like to walk around with this pervasive feeling of eroticism because you're not acting like a monkey and jacking off everytime you get a little itch? That's sex!

Again...absurd. Masturbating is not wrong or harmful, but to not masturbate has many benifits and causes no harm. Yoga relieves stress. Yelling and beating a pillow relieves stress. Tennis and meditation and good music relieve stress. Masturbation only feels good, releases sperm and semen, and gets rid of "horniness". Don't make it more than it is.

Alrighty ... this was a pretty shitty week as far as masturbation abstinence is concerned, I said I’d let the thread die and only post when I stopped and that’s what happened today.Looking back on the week I saw a lot of mistakes … ones that I do not plan to repeat as I start over. Strangely even though I gave in to a really strong impulse I don’t feel defeated like I usually do when I spank the monkey. It was weird for the entire 5 weeks nothing ... then the last two days were just ridiculous ... oh well ...Anywho 45 days isn’t too shabby although as I scan over my other posts in this thread I do believe I have to put my foot in my mouth… seeing as how I said 3 months would be cake...So as abstinence session #2 begins when ever I get the urge rather than feeding the urge by looking at naked women ill try to analyze it and understand where it’s coming from and then try to control it and make it my bitch.Goals are good ... ... Anywho, I’m expecting to double the number of days I abstain this time. Peace out.Hehehe btw how ya holdin up focus =]

That's some healthy thinking you got going on there Ogie. Beating yourself up doesn't help. It only makes things worse. The fact that you don't feel defeated is a major sign of health. And 45 days is not easy! I remember when I did 120 days that it was easy at first but started getting difficult around the 2nd month. It's like up and down after that. Myself, I'm doing pretty miserably too. I really thought I was gonna do something but blew up after just a few days.Soo...would you be up for a challenge? A little contest? Make tomorrow (Feb. 6 - Super Bowl Sunday!) day 1? This helped me before doing this with a friend. The sense of competition helped, but we actually encouraged each other more than we competed. What do you think? (and maybe others want in on it...)

Sorry to hear about your slip Ogle. I'm still hanging in there - 5.5 weeks and counting. I know what you mean about sudden attacks of horniness - all this week I was thinking how much easier it has gotten, didn't have much of an urge to mastrubate at all. Then like this weekend I'm out of my mind horny all of a sudden, and its extremely difficult to control. My personal record is 8 weeks, however I have done 6 weeks on two or three occassions, so I still have a way to go before breaking my personal record.
-
its called lent, a catholic thing. didnt you ever see 40 day and 40 nights with josh hartnet?
-
21 months and counting...You can overcome yourself and make your life your own if you decide to instead of being a slave to your own body...the first few weeks is the hardest part, but it'll get easier...hang in there, and keep persevering. Don't let a little stumble make you fall completely!
-
Lent is not just a Catholic thing - it's a Christian thing! F22 - 21 months?!?! What's your secret. I found it doesn't get easier after the first few weeks, it gets more difficult! Do you get wet dreams often?
-
I have no idea why anybody in their right mind would think it unhealthy or bad to not masturbate. Diver said himself he stopped for medical reasons. If you really want to know why I stopped then I'll tell you that it was for religious reasons, even though that's probably widely known across the forum. If one's got a will to do something with the power of Christ behind it, anything is possible. However, it's possible to stop for that long and longer without being a christian too. That's just my reason. I get wet dreams as often as I need them. That's the beauty of the body God designed. It can take care of itself for the most part. Oh, and lent isn't observed in many protestant churches. As far as I know, it is mostly a catholic practice (but that doesn't exclude protestants from participating, and it's certainly not a bad thing)
