I just went in to the get the pre class to my first pelvic exam. It was a lot of helpful information, and we also learned about different types of birthcontrol.I was wondering if anyone had any experience with the nuva ring becuase I am considering using it. I'm too forgetful for the pill, I have needle phobia so the shot is out and I heard that the patch can sometimes fall off. So far the ring sounds like the best thing.Any help?If nothing else, my boyfriend said he didn't mind continuing to use condoms, I just want to have another option avaliable.thanks

Nuva ring?
-
Just get the shot. The doctor can probably give it to you anywhere, so just have him give it to you in the butt when you are not looking. (Sounds kind of wrong)
-
I can't get shots. Just the thought of it makes me panic. That and the smell of rubbing alcholol. I'm really not comfortable with the idea of getting a shot.
-
Don't mean to be rude, but you better not have sex at all if you can't handle a shot. I've heard those nuva rings are difficult and awkward and you have to know your body VERY well.
-
some people are uncomfortable with shots, i dont think it has to do with the pain, but the shot itself, the needle. i dont think you can compare getting a shot to sex.
-
Wow, I hate gettign up before the market opens, but I have to. It's a part of life. Somethings have to be done for your overall welfare. So take one for the team and toughen up.

ok i just looked at the website for the nuva ring and if i were you i wouldnt take it. It doesnt look very compfotable for one, and i actually dont see how it would work or i do but i just wouldnt feel like it would work right. My advice to you is to either just take the pill and if its that hard for you to remember it then write yourself a note or just deal with it and get the shot. Thats all i can say but i wouldnt trust the nuva ring it sounds like bull to me!

thank you babygoldfish.I was having trouble seeing the correlation myself. Because it's not like I'm going to not be using protection if I don't use the shot. And I don't see what having the shot (or any shot for that matter) has anything to do with having sex.

If you are so afraid of shots how are you current with your immunizations?
-
It's a maturity thing I guess. I don't like a lot of shit I've had to had done medically, but you just deal with it.
-
I am up to date on all my imunizations, but I don't want to take anymore shots than are absolutly necessry by law or health. If there are alternatives to a needle, I'd rather take those.
-
If you absolutley can't take a shot, and you can't remember to take a pill once a day, then I suggest the patch. However, taking a pill once a day becomes a daily routine like anything else. You get up in the morning, take a shower, brush your teeth, get dressed, brush your hair, take a pill...

I was on it for a number of years, and I still forgot to take it a few times a month.
-
Really? I honestly can say I've only forgetten a half dozen times over the last seven years of taking it. About once a month though I take it a couple hours later than I'm supposed to. (I take it at night before I go to bed and sometime forget to take it if I'm out and get home late.) I guess I'm just so freakishly paranoid about getting pregnant I couldn't forget if I tried. My suggestion is still the patch if you can't do the shot. I have heard all negative things about the ring.

The ring sounds like a solid plan. Because of girls like you there is a market for it. I say go for it, if you decide you don't care for it, you can always change methods. Simple to me.
-
Well I'm on the ring as we speak. I was going to get the shot, but I was concerned with having those high levels of hormones injected into my body. The nuvaring seems like it might be a hassle, but you put it inside you for three weeks and then take it out the fourth. It even comes with a timer that beeps to let you know that it's time to put it in/take it out. It's just like puttting a tampon up there. I've had no problems so far, but if you want more info, go to nuvaring.com. Or plannedparenthood.com which lists the pros/cons of every type of birth control. I hope this helps. Good luck!!!

I went to the site and it seemed like a good thing. Thanks for the infor
