what if the pill is taken right away regardless of period on or off or on it? will it prove less affective or not affective?

A question about the pill...

It depends what pill she is on. I'm on orthro tri cyclen lo, and you can "pick" when you start the pills. You can either start the first day of your period, or the Sunday after you start your period(even if you are still bleeding). As for protection, here's what I got from the tri-lo website. Again it all depends on what pill she's on:How long until I am protected against pregnancy? If you use a Sunday Start and you are taking the Pill for the first time, you MUST use a back-up method of birth control (such as condoms or spermicide) for the first seven days. If you use a Day 1 Start, you are protected from becoming pregnant as soon as you take your first pill.

the "Day 1 Start pill". is that the name of it? or is it a type that we can request something simliar from our doctor? also would it be still strongly encouraged to have a back up method for the first month?
-
The name of the pill is orthro tri-cyclen lo. She decides when she wants to begin taking it. The day one start, or the Sunday start, but it's the same pill. If she's a Sunday starter, you two will need to use a backup method for the first 7 days.

You are confusing the girl with this "Day 1 Start" talk. There are no pills that are effective from the first day.By "Day 1 Start", she means, you start the pill on the first day of your period. Given that you are starting your period, chances are very low that you are ovulating, thus you probably won't get pregnant. By the time your period is over, the contraceptive pills are kicking in and becomming effective after the 7 days or so.But the bottome line is you can start the pills any day of the week you choose. Generally, it's a Sunday so that the package lines up with the week, if they are in rows. But there are all sorts of packages, so in the end it doesn't really matter.

Its not reccomended that you ramdomly start the pills "any day of the week". She should take it the first day of her period, or the sunday after....whats so confusing about that?
-
I'm sorry, but you are wrong. You can start the pills on any day of the week after the period. You can start on a Monday, Tuesday... whatever. It just doesn't matter. There are no "recommendations" to start on a Sunday for medical reasons. The recommendation is purely based on convenience.
-
Correct, on that item and on the fact that no pill is effective from day one. It takes at least 2 weeks for reliability but a month is better.Condoms should be used during this time.K

If you are refering the the pill she has to take everyday to stop pregnacy these guys are right. but I wasn't sure if you perhaps ment the morning after pill, in which case you have 72 hours to get to a doctor or pharmacy to get it and take it this will stop her getting pregnant if you have had an accident or in the case that a condom has split. the morning after pill has to be taken staright away and then another 12 hours later, however if the pill makes her sick it will have no effect and you will have to go and see the doctor again and her/she will advise you on whether to take another one or not."English Pride"

Yes creek, the pills she has to take every day.

after her period it is recommended that she should start on the pill on sunday or right away after her period? is it one way more affective then the other?
-
LOL... Just have her start the pill on a Sunday atfer her period. End of story.Use condoms for the next few weeks and she'll be fine.
-
hehe... okay.

my period is really irregular and i skip around a lot... so when should i take the pill? can i take it whenever? i have the ortho tri-cyclen lo pills and it says to take it on the first sunday after your period or on the first day of ur period... what should i do?!
-
Like I said... just take the pill on the first Sunday after your period. No confusion or dramatics needed. It's not a big deal.
