Hi, recently I had circumcision done (about 5 weeks ago) and one thing bugs the hell out of me, and that is my erection. My erection has gotten considerably smaller - 2 inches have been lost. It's definitely not the foreskin making up the length, I can assure you... Honestly though, how can this be? I'm still swollen too; only a little around where the remains of the stitches sit. And that's another thing, I was informed the stitches would disolve pretty quickly but they haven't. Could it be the stitches are pulling tightly on my penis therefore making it unable to erect at full length? I'm really, really embarrassed about this problem at the moment, so if anyone knows about this kinda thing please share...

Embarrassing question

Not a doctor but I would guess that the reason is that you are nervous about the recovery and it is having an affect on your ability to achieve a full erection. Physically there is no reason that you would lose any length from the operation. I would suggest that you relax and allow time to heal your circumcision and your mental angst.

If you still have stitches after this long...its time to see your doctor and see what's going on. They may be the cause for smaller erections (doubt it though) but certainly could lead to an infection as well. Make that appointment!

Just to let you all know; after the operation my stitches came undone and bled everywhere in the hopsital. They checked me over and told me I had a haematoma (sp?) which needed to be corrected by surgery. So I had to have another operation. After the operation I spoke to the urologist who checked me out and he informed me I was fine and I could go home. After about 7 days, I was feeling like my healing was going no where but the swelling was going down even if was just a little. What has got me thinking is (in regards to stitches) is that they might not have been dissolvable ones for the last operation even though I was informed they were and says so on my letter... If that is the case would I have to have them out? or do they just go away on their own? and also maybe because of my haematoma I'm just taking longer to heal, I don't know...
I'll try and get an appointment to see my doctor but the way things run round here, I'd be lucky to even get through on the phone. You wouldn't believe what kind of things I'm thinking of right now! I'm worrying a lot. I really, really hope it isn't anything serious.

NO, they would not go away and you'd have to have them removed....if you can't get your doc I'd say get to any Emergency room and have this checked out. Yes, that may be difficult and somewhat embarassing...but your penis health is the issue here...not your own embarassment about things. I'd want to know what is going on there..and sooner rather than later.
