Programs like that are easy to nick off the web Bob - Apparently. My dads got thousands of pounds worth of programs he nicked, some even used for The Lord of The Rings. You just have to know where to get them As for animating, I've done a couple of short animated films. I used this versatile kid's modelling material called "Fimo", over a wire frame for my characters. It didn't seem to melt as quickly as other materials under the set lights. It's other major advantage was that I could bake and harden certain parts of my "creatures", which isn't possible with normal plasticene. It's a lengthly process. If I'm quick I can do about 150 frames in 3 hours, but only with one character. 150 frames = 6 seconds. Computer animation tends to be quicker, and more accurate - it just requires a more computer literate mind. The only advice I have to give you on animation (since I don't have any knowledge of computer animation) is to put the story first. It's no use having beautiful looking images, if the story hasn't been given as much thought. Good luck with it!

In reply to: My dads got thousands of pounds worth of programs he nicked, some even used for The Lord of The Rings. If you're talking about the program MASSIVE...... gimme gimme gimme!!!!! I'm working on my portfolio for my college application. Just storyboarding at the moment, haven't started any samples yet. Except for a few basics, bouncing/rolling balls, walk cycles... the usual.

No, that's the first thing I asked about when he told me about the software he had. He said he can get it though, although it wouldn't be much use to him. I'll ask about it. I'm not sure where he gets this stuff from. It's certainly not Limewire... He says he "knows the right people" lol. He's not a criminal or anything, he just gets a kick out of obtaining 1000's of pounds worth of software for free. He managed to get a digital grading program, amongst others, and another program that worked in conjunction with those 3D model scanners (used for digitizing 3D models such as Cave Trolls, The Watcher, and of course Gollum). Thing is, that program's not much use without the scanner, which costs thousands of pounds too. Lol.

He probably gets it from the Asian black market. Thats where I get all my stuff anyway.

Lol. He gets it from people over the internet. He's not the robbing-houses type of criminal or anything.
