Well I just found out the Ohio, Tenn, and Kentucky are all going to gas rationing soon because of the oil refiners that had to be shut down because of the huricane. Right now all gas stations in my area are over $3.09 a gallon and are going to be over $4 a gallon. This is nutty =-(.

Gas Rationing
-
what really sucks is that Canada imports ZERO oil. We actually produce a surplus and sell it (mostly to the US). Yet we're getting hosed at the pumps too (pun intended)I don't know what I'd do if they started rationing here. I have to travel for work, no choice in the matter.
-
Hey Eddie.
How are you guy?
Amen to end the high gas prices... Yikes!!!
Gas prices suck here too. We're paying $2.89, $2.99 and $3.09 here is Northeast Texas.
They haven't said anything about gas rations yet but they did say they were going to dip into the national oil reserve to help with the crunch. I hope that helps...
It's a shame what happened in the Gulf States... My heart goes out to all of those who were affected by the hurricane.
It sounds like a reenactment of the mid 70's
-
I was way to young to drive in the 70s but I remember the line-ups and the odd&even licence plates and all that.
-
The problem is that panic is setting in, and people are lining up for gas with 3/4-full tanks. I kind of don't blame them...who wants to be stuck with 1/16 of a tank the morning they have to be somewhere on time?Old folks will remember the gas lines from past oil crises. They suck big time, and tend to bring out the worst in people. Sort of interesting article on the subject. There was also an interesting article in the New York Times a couple of weeks ago about how oil production has just about peaked, and it's all downhill from here. It's been claimed before, wrongly. It will be true eventually. The question is, Is it true now? There was also an article in Atlantic Monthly a few months ago about how, if the Saudi royal family is overthrown, the world economy will be in deep trouble._______________________________> This is nuttyEuropeans have been paying 3 times as much for gas as have Americans. The difference is in taxes. That's why Canadian gas is so expensive. If gasoline had been taxed more heavily in the U.S. up 'till now, we might not be in the gas dependency pickle we're in now.
-
Do what I do, when gas becomes impossible for most working class Americans to afford, take some fake plates or old plates from some abandoned car and pull into some place near your target gas station (preferably 25 miles away from where you live), attatch the fake plates and carefully drive to the station, fill up, peel out, swap the plates and NEVER GO BACK THERE! I don't find it wrong, if a man steals a loaf of bread to feed his starving family is that wrong? Gas is todays bread. I've done this twice so far and scored about $100 worth of petrol. Or just siphon from some prick you don't like.
-
Hey there.. I'm good thanks =-) Hopefully you're just as well.In ohio we've been around $2.50 a gallon so over a 50 cent jump in a day and than by weekend end it's supposed to jump $1.50 more a gallon. It's gonna make it hard for people who have to travel long distances to work, which a lot of people do in my area. I dunno just keeping figures crossed that it gets worked out quickly.I just read an artical saying because these refiners are shut down the US is losing 30 Million barrels a day. Now thats a big "ouch" to the pocket book.
-
Ummm... no thanks.
-
Uh oh...your sociopathic side is seeping out. Might as well use a gun, if you can get away with it. Next flood, someone with a like mind as you might hit you in the head with a pipe and steal your bread...and your dope.
-
The crappy thing about this is....I just started pumping up my Jeep. It burns more gas than before...I was planning to do that then get it ready for off roading trails, but the prices are terrible....A gas station in a matter of 5 mintues jumped to 3 bucks here...I went to a cheaper one and passed by this one, and on my way back it was 30 cents more expensive.
-
Here in my area, in the north of the state, are some caped oil wells that proved to be unprofitable to operate. I fully expect that they will soon be uncapped, lending several drops to the diminished supply....Ahhh...to be a oil speculator and make money from the misery of so many others.
I plan to turn my bike into a recumbant and attatch a bottom shaft lawnmower engine to it. Easily done. Nice leasurily ride to work.
To half assed steal from Poe, The Fall of the House of Saud would imperil oil supplies, and perhaps the U.S. will intervene?
I bet that Al Quida is pulling out its collective hairs trying to mount some sort of attack here in the states.
-
Where I live it's nearly $3 a gallon. I filled my car up earlier today and I paid $2.89 a gallon, and they expect it to be about $3.50 by Monday.
-
try living in the Bay Area of California....it is gonna suck so much in a few days. This is not a great time to lift my Jeep, but it is gonna be done. And can someone say fall of the west.
-
Some guy that ran a gas station got run over trying to stop someone doing that... actually a few people got run over by people doing that.
-
Fall of the West..
But wait!! Can we bounce back? Is there yet a glimmer of our former greatness that can rise to the challenge, beat the unbeatable, surmount all odds??? YES!!!!!We are strong, even though we seem to be not. We have coasted, and now we will be challenged. America always rises to the challenge. It is our people, our spirit. We will not give up.
No, I took no happy pills. Just an optimist
-
well i look for the best as well. But seeing how we are doing in current affairs....yeah, we are gonna need help.
-
I bet that Al Quida is pulling out its collective hairs trying to mount some sort of attack here in the states. It turns out all they had to do was set off a few modest bombs next to the levees surrounding New Orleans. Just goes to show...they're not that clever.
-
I hear ya. The situation can seem bleak. The economy where I am is in the toilet, and I am contemplating a move to a new location. Far away from where I am presently. Change itself can be scary, but I take this into consideration, and the gas prices, while inconvinient, are not to me an indicator of disaster. I do see the effect on the economy, but also know that things will adjust, as they do, and we will continue. It is the change that causes the trepidation, at least as I see it.
Comets in the old days where always harbingers of doom. All is a battle for the mind -
Why waste resources when nature is going to do it for them? Not very productive. Would be best to strike far from New Orleans and Mississippi. Overplanning can be as counterproductive as underplanning.
All they really need to do is remain a threat, and we will continue to spend money we don't have. Sounds pretty clever to me. They do little, and we spend much, slowing our econmomy, redirecting resources to other areas.

Why waste resources when nature is going to do it for them? Not very productive.I guess they are pretty clever. They must have known a hurricane powerful enough to tear holes in the levee was coming, and they're focusing their evilness elsewhere.> Overplanning can be as counterproductive as underplanning. Heavy duty planning worked out for them on 9/11.> They do little, and we spend much, slowing our econmomy, redirecting resources to other areas. The government does things to make it look like they're doing something useful. Some of it is. A lot of it is a big waste. The problem is, if a terrorist isn't afraid to die, it's not hard to blow things up.
