Whats with popular jocks

Same problem for me as with you, white_lines. We live in a 1.7 million dollar house, and have 4 cars and all. But I have to pay for all my stuff with my own money, and everything...Ah well, I know that I'll be getting a car at least. Used, but oh well.
-
Well I got my first car when I bought it for $650 when I was 27, and I've never had one that was less than nine years old, or cost more than $4400.

SteveA....We just gave her a reliable vehicle so we don’t have to worry about here driving to and from school and work. She is a junior in high school and taking 3 classes at Southern Methodist University, In Dallas. She’s a very smart kid. She will have to continue to work weekends to pay for her own gas and help with her car insurance or she can’t drive it! Her goal is to become a Federal Attorney specializing in Corporate Defense Litigation. My son is a freshman in high school. He has carried a 4.0 average since 7th grand. His ambition in life is to be a psychologist, move to California, and buy a huge house over looking the Pacific Ocean in Malibu.... I hope his dream comes thru. He wants a new Jeep 4x4, lifted up with some kind of A/T Knobby tires and rims. He’s 14 years old. I’ll bet he makes it too!The only thing the kids have ever been given as a freebee has been clothes to wear, food to eat and a roof over their head. My parents never gave me anything. They were too caught up in their own careers to worry about me. I did this on my own and so will they. They are both trying to get scholarships for school because I’ve told them I’m NOT going to pay for their schooling. They can do it on their own. I’m sure I’ll jump in if they are going to jeopardize their education because of a lack of a full scholarship. But they don’t know that yet…...oH... JenJen...Sure hon.... Come on over.. What's one more kid in the house. Although you'll have to use one of the guest roomsn the back of the house.

> We just gave her a reliable vehicle so we don't have to worry about here driving to and from school and work. She is a junior in high school...
With a new $70,000 car! I've owned a Toyota and a Honda that were extremely reliable. $70,000 would have bought a fleet of those things. You don't need to spend that kind of money to get a reliable car.
> Her goal is to become a Federal Attorney specializing in Corporate Defense Litigation.
Oh, well then, it's completely understandable that your adolescent daughter with a freshly-minted driver's license has a new $70,000 car.
> The only thing the kids have ever been given as a freebee has been clothes to wear, food to eat and a roof over their head.
No toys? No christmas gifts? Just four painted walls? Those poor things.
> My parents never gave me anything.
It looks like you're compensating for that in a b-i-g way.
> I've told them I'm NOT going to pay for their schooling.
I had no car at all in college. If your daughter sells hers, she won't have to worry about a scholarship.
Seriously guy, a 16-year-old with a new $70,000 Lexus?
-
i hope im allowed to come in too?, i mean JenJen and I do come as a pair
-
Yeah, will you adopt me too?
-
while your at it how bout addin me on that adoption list too!
-
Holy fuck dude... way to spoil your kids. I'm sure THEY'LL never do drugs or anything
-
Okay...
I'll adopt all ya'all. It will be fun. Prx, If JenJen is adopted so can you be. But if you're under 21, you'll have sleep in separate rooms. Snogging and such is not allowed. (Gosh, we're gonna need a bigger house...lol)
We are thinking about trying to plan our winter trip. We're running late because of the move and the house and all that stuff. . The kids want to go snow boarding /skiing somewhere. I would like something more tropical. What do you guys think?
And I hope nobody does drugs.... It's such a dead end street!

The kids want to go snow boarding /skiing somewhere. I would like something more tropical.Southern California? You can drive a couple of hours into the mountains to go boarding, then drive back and go to the beach in the afternoon. Or maybe you can go to Cal. or Hawaii and they can learn to surf. Maui is the nicest place I've ever seen.

Roc hun I think everyone is coming down pretty hard on you. I think what you have done for your kids is awesome. I see nothing wrong with giving kids somethign nice, esp if they are well manored respect kids. Only thing I hate seeing are parents who buy their kids everything and their kids are spoiled immature little jerks. At any rate don't let anyone tell you how to raise your children, sounds like you're doing a fantastic job! Sounds like they have a head on their shoulders. Personally when I have children I hope to be able to give them a little to my children than my parents were able to give to me. And you know what? Both my parents say the same thing. And Steve before you say anything (LIke I know you will), I had to work for everything I own. I got a job when I was 15 so I can buy my first car, pay for the gas and insurance. I have also paid my way through school and 2 years ago I bought my first house, On My Own! My parents would have loved to of helped me out with things, esp schooling, they just couldn't afford it. IF they could have aforded it, my mother said she would have loved to of bought my first car and helped with schooling. Thought hey couldn't, the thought itself was good enough for me.
-
And Steve before you say anything (LIke I know you will)It doesn't take a fortune teller to know that you would jump into this thread yourself. I don't know why you'd think I'd come down on you for being spoiled. Roc wasn't either. You seem to be saying there's no limit. That a new $70,000 Lexus for a 16-year-old with a new license is excessive is a gross understatement. Apparently the word "limit" is not in your vocabulary.Rich people in Beverly Hills who don't pay attention to their kids do things like that to feel better about themselves. I don't know why anyone else would. It is a gross excess. Words like "indulgence" and "gluttony" come to mind.

> I don't know why you'd think I'd come down on you for being spoiled
I was spoiled? I think you need to re-read my post. I was "spoiled' when it came to attention because I was more of an acheiver in High School and College more so than the rest of my siblings (Which I think emotional "spoil: is a good thing if some properly). But I was far from spoiled when it came to material things. Once I got a job (again when I was 15) I paid for almost everything myself. I Paid for my own clothes, car, car insurance, Glasses & Contacts, and hell I even paid for my own life insurance because I wanted to make sure if something happened to me my family would be okay. So don't EVEN call me spoiled.
>You seem to be saying there's no limit
Quote me where I said this. There is always a limit. I am just saying there is nothing wrong with buying your kids something nice if they deserve it.
>That a new $70,000 Lexus for a 16-year-old with a new license is excessive is a gross understatement.
To you maybe. But that is not your judgement call, that's Roc and his Husbands call. I doubt they would have bought something so nice if she did not deserve it. Again you and others have no right to judge how Roc raises his children and by everytyhing he says his children sound like they are turning out to be great young adults. I wish I could say that about more peopel of the next generation.
