So I installed msn messenger 7.5 on my computer, and now it's not logging me in. It claims my gateway is offline. Now, I know I can get online, and that my firewall isn't blocking it. I think these problems started just after I got 7.5. And the msn troubleshooter isn't helping me with this problem... Does anyone know what's happening with this?

It must be using a port that your firewall is blocking. See the appropriate msn messenger "known issues" page.

So, I did all of that, and it got past the old problem... and lo and behold, now it can't detect a proxy? That comes up on the Key Ports part... It also says I'm not connected to the .NET messenger service, but I am connected through a wired network (and I have no clue what that means!).

Nope, 7.5... Although, now I wish I hadn't updated it....

here's a question... if I sign into MSN, why do the dorks that use AIM to contact my wife start sending me messages?

It has to be that you need to open some port or ports in your router. I just downloaded what I thought was the latest verion from the MSN site, and it turns out to be 7.0 (Build 7.0.0816), but it seems to work fine on various routers. If you just can't get version 7.5 to work, why don't you just uninstall it, then download and install version 7.0?

I'm sure it works fine for most people who aren't using ajmakoko's PC/router/firewall/network connection.

Or know how to use a computer! Argh! If I have an XP, can I download the 7.0 version for Millenium? Because I don't think they have 7.0 for XP, just 7.5. Unless I'm missing something AGAIN! Ps: You can just call me Aj.

That's weird. I just went to the download page and tried it again, and it gave me version 7.5. I don't know what happened to the 7.0 install file...maybe it was overwritten. I don't know where version 7.0 went.
