Hi guys,Second post tonight - I must be diseased, lol For quite a while now I've had an itchy scalp. I get whiteheads below my hair which are full of what looks like puss (white stuff). My whole head feels really dry and itchy. I sometimes can't help but scratch (I'm getting better and stopping moreso now) and it's very flakey.I went to the docs and he gave me some scalp applicator stuff, can't remember what it was called. He said it looked like seriosis? (This was a few monthes back)I tried this stuff, but it seemed to dry my head up. I tried aqueous cream to soothe it for a few weeks, but I still kept getting spots and inflmaed areas.I then picked this shampoo up - was called .. and contained . It said it was for dry, itchy, dandruff, spotty scalps - which matched my condition perfectly. I've done 5 treatements of it now - but thinks seem similar. If anything - more scabby? It says to use it every 3 days for 2 - 4 weeks - so i'm probably in the mid treatement. I'l keep going with the stuff and eventually go back to the doc if it doesnt give in.However, in the meantime has anyone got any info on this? What causes it, and decent solutions or MILD shampoo's I could use to wash my hair inbetween treatements? Thanks once again.

No one can give you useful information unless you know what your diagnosis was. If you're not sure, then call the doctor and find out. Was it psoriasis? If so, then check Google. I think other people may have discussed on this site...do a search here too.Obviously, a trip to the emergency room is not indicated, Grim.

The doc didn't actually give a diagnosis - he said it looked like soriosis (Sp?) but could be other things. To be frank, my doctor tends to fob you off with prescriptions rather than give you a proper check.I'l give it a few more days and a few more treatements and then I'l book another appointment to see what he says. Was just wondering if anyone had the same symptons and had any reccomendations - more so for a MILD and FRIENDLY shampoo that could be used during the treatement to keep my hair clean.

Don't go back to that doctor. Forget about trying to treat yourself. You need to see a dermatologist, or you will spin your wheels for a long time to come.

Don't I need to get referred via the doc for a dermatologist? Who do I need to contact?
Thanks for the help btw.

Don't I need to get referred via the doc for a dermatologist? Who do I need to contact? It depends on your insurance. But you need to get the name of a dermatologist anyway, so you might as well ask your doctor about it. He won't be insulted.
