All these fucking pop-ups are beginign to really fucking piss me off on this site. Everytime I click into something I get raped by a pop and by the time I leave the site I have at least 50 minumized pop-ups gangbanging my screen. As much as I love this site, Im about to throw in the towel due to my screen getting flooded, its really frustrating. Anyone feeling my pain!

although the pop-up thing an old topic, I'll mention that I've noticed they've become better at invading firefox over the last week or so.

There is a sticky thread right above. If you bothered to read it, you might not be having this problem.
-
You wouldnt be having a problem if you had opera

... another pop-up complaint... another browser debate
ever get that feeling of dejavu...what?

oh shit it's happening again! -
We've been through this a hundred times. Do as sdp says and read the sticky thread on the topic.I'm still using XP, Firfox and Opera (both, randomly), and Norton Internet Security. You can argue that any or all of those things suck (especially NIS), but with them, I have no pop-ups at all. Zilch. Zero. Nada. Rien. No pop-ups, man.By the way, you can often get rebates on NIS, especially at the end of the model year, so that it winds up costing nothing. I'm using the 2005 version, and it cost me postage. The year before, I got it at Costco, and it cost me less than nothing. I came out a few bucks ahead. It slows things down and sucks up memory, but it seems to work OK.By the way, your dog is funny-looking.

Shit.. I don't even have a virus scanner or pop-up blocker on my machine right now. (reformatted the disk not to long ago). Using XP with Internet Explorer and have the Javascript disabled as described in my sticky post. Never a pop-up from this site. Or any PC for that matter if I disbale Javascript. Don't even come back and tell me it doesn't work. It does or you don't know how to follow instructions.
-
All that, and I still have JavaScript (and Java and Java_Addict) enabled, and I get no poop-up. (I do have to tweak what Javascript's allowed to do on Firefox...Opera seems to take care of itself.)If you just disable Javascript, though, it's easy, but a bit inconvenient if you jump to other Web sites that need it.
-
Not if you only tweak the settings for your Trusted Zones and put A2A in it.
-
Does that have any effect if you don't use IE?
-
I don't use any other browsers, so I don't know.
-
Thats one of my favorite things about opera, I dont need a popup blocker. Just set it to "Block all popups" and if theres one i want to see, I click the lil rectangle box at the top.

But there's more to it than pop-ups. Javascript can do a lot of things, including things to your existing windows. For technical users, it's good that Firefox gives you the ability to fine-tune what you'll allow Web sites to do, but it's kind of complicated for the average user. With Opera, there's less thinking needed.
