Yesterday I noticed a strange tingling in my left arm when ever I moved it a certain way. For example, I'd move it front of my chest and I'd feel this odd tingle (can't think of any other word to describe it) and my arm would feel slightly numb for a few moments. It'd start out as a tingle near my underarm and it'd move through out my arm to my fingers. I'm not sure what's going on... pinched nerve maybe?... but I spoke to my sister about it and she didn't think it was too serious and if it tingled when I moved it that way then I shouldn't do that anymore (yeah, great advice). I guess I can be a bit of a hypochondriac at times (who isn't when they're not sure about what's going on), so does anyone have any ideas what it could be?

well i know nothing, and have no right to post on much stuff sis, apparently, but i tend to agree with your sister, the same thing happened to me after a particularly long session at the pc doing a paper, and it lasted a day or two then went away. If it carries on i would go and see a doctor, but hey what the hell do i know anyway. sigh

In reply to: if it tingled when I moved it that way then I shouldn't do that anymore (yeah, great advice). Yes that is great advice, the god damned greatest advice I ever heard.I tore the bursa out of my left shoulder and did some rotor cuff damage and screwed up the tendons. I reported to the clinic (it happened at work) and the doc says wel whats the problem while my shirt is of an my sholder is hanging down and I say it hurts when I move it, I got the same advice, dont move it then and put some ice on it.Great fucking advice, real great. Damned army Docs.I had to seek help from my personal Doc and bill it back to workmens comp. a exam and a catscan revealed the real damage and the asshole at the clinic had nothig to say aside from well its possible you did something ice cant help.sorry, ranting, I do that often...I know that numb arms are early signs of heart attack so is pain an tingleing. At your age you should be in atleast fairly good health right? I dont think Id worry too much about it at this point. try not to do that, its probaly a pinched nerve or something like that and nothing serious. How long has it been going on? if its been happening a day or so then Id be even less concerned and assume a pinched nerve.I get that often in various parts of my body and sometimes stretching is all it takes to relieve it and other times I get so bad I cant move and end up at the bone popping bastard to get mobile again. At this point I wouldnt worry about it too much, but I wouldnt whole hearted dismiss it either.Any o that help or did it serve only to make you say "What the hell is he on about?"

Katie, Hehehehe....I like your sister’s advice… I was going to recommend the same thing, but you beat me too the punch line…lolSometimes when you put too much pressure on your elbow it causes the nerve in your arm and fingers to tingle. My doctor gave me an inflammatory to take and told me to stop resting so much weight on my elbow…..No wise cracks please????

Thanks for the opinions guys. My sister suggested that I may have slept on it wrong which is a possiblity, but I'm not sure that's what it is (it's happened several times before but I never said anything about it). I guess the best I can do at the moment is not move it in those directions that make it tingle. I'll talk to the doctor about it anyways the next time I go just to be on the safe side though.

Since I work in Cardiology, I hate to hear people say thier arm is tingly...not a good sign. I have no idea what is going on wth your arm, but if you get chest pains or short of breathe, go straight to the ER.
